Blah!.......ok we could have had someone new win this race- like Mark Martin (such an awesome guy) or Rusty Wallace (another awesome guy)....but the whiner won and so be it. Glad Dale Jrgot third ....it was thrilling the last 3 laps. So its on to the next race...

I thought Kurt Busch was going to steal it two laps from the end. Still, he got a second place this year, beating his third place of 2003; maybe he do one better next year?

Busch would have been better than #24. I just hate him. Actually Junior would have been my personal pick, but he is my favorite! Good race though! At the end I almost hit my father in law with a throw pillow!!

I really wanted Mark Martin to win it. He was very good all day. I am a Junior fan and wish he could've held off Gordon for the win. I just hate that whiner!!

I would like to see you strapped in a car going 190 mph for about 3 1/2 hours inches apart in a car that is about 120 degrees inside and see if you don't think these guys are athletes. Also, everytime they race they could be killed. They put themselves on the line with every race, can't say that about baseball, basketball, and other sports.

The race was a good one with a great finish. I like Gordon, but it would have been nice to see Wallace or Martin win. Both those guys are class guys.

Creditcop,

You need to lighten up for god's sake. I LOVE NASCAR too but I also love the joke. But for crying out loud, have fun with this life, it's the only one you've got. Stop taking yourself so seriously. God knows the rest of us don't.

If anyone wants a singer for next year's Daytona 500, just spot me a couple of tickets on the main straight and I'll do it. It won't be good, but it will be better than Brian Wilson. Weird!? This ain't the Super Bowl, the entertainment is nothing but an unnecessary delay - let's race.

The last 30 laps were big fun, but the rest of it was like watching two freight trains race. I have gotten over disliking Jeff Gordon, I eventually decided that it was his "know nothing" fans that I really didn't like, but they have pretty much melted away.

I enjoyed #9's multiple charges through the field and would like to know how he got into the wall on the closing laps, but there will be other races. The very best part was watching Tony Stewart come close to winning, but then fading at the end...

CC a few years ago Sports Illustrated ran a series of articles to find out the most challanging athletes based on skill, stamina and multiple other criteria - football didn't place, but NASCAR drivers came in 2nd - above hockey, soccer, decathelon, etc. They mentioned exactly what you did - heat, extended 100% concentration for many hours, g-forces, reaction time, strength to wrestle the car around turns and on & on.

Not that I like that whinney winner though.

Way, way south.
Eh, I thought it was boring. And regarding the end, if you ask me they should have stopped it and cleaned up the track completely, red flag, and then let them run the final 10 laps under green. The incessant slow laps under yellow when there are less than ten laps left just bothers me. Let them run!

FlaBkr, what was the number one sport? I have heard that it is motocross, is that correct?

Yeah I thought the entertainment before the race could have stayed home- sing the anthem and start the engines and race- thats how it should be. Alot of those drivers stay in shape and work out- and I still say nascar fans are #1 - all walks of life, young and old, and whatever- so it's on to the next race and it also means that spring isn't too far behind in this Ohio town of mine.

I have to agree with you completely about Brian Wilson. He was absolutely terrible. It looked like they kept turning off his mike so you wouldn't hear him.

I am so glad Jeff Gordon won. I have been a fan of his since the beginning. I am one of the few people, especially here in the South, who cannot stand Jr. I am so glad he did not win.

Pulling people out of the ditc...
I have always found that watching ESPN for 45 seconds the night of the race will give me the winner, but not waste 4-5 hours of my day!

It's a great way to waste 4-5 hours! We rotate houses and get all of our friends and our kids together and eat and talk and play cards, it is why I love Sunday!!

Gordon is my favorite and I couldn't be happier with the way the race turned out. Never have liked Rusty. Glad he didn't win. The only thing I have against Martin is that he drives for Roush Racing. Glad Roush Racing didn't win; however, if Martin drove for any other team, I could pull for him.

Here's to Title Number 5 in '05!

Just because it's hard to do, doesn't make it a sport. Juggling chainsaws is difficult, but I'd hardly call it a sport. And just because it's taxing on your body doesn't make it a sport either. Do they call astronauts athletes? Would my driving to work be called a "light-workout?" I doubt it...

Not certain what the debate's about. Whether it's the NBA or NASCAR, those of us who are just watching aren't burning up too many calories.

I watch it because I enjoy it. Hope you don't mind.

Well that depends, can you chang all four tires, gas up your car, and make two or three changes to your suspention in under 14 seconds?

No, but thats where the TEAM comes in. Nascar is more than driving around a track. thats like saying baseball is just a bunch of people trying to hit a ball with a stick, or saying that football is just a bunch of people jumping on each other.

LOL, I must have missed the jumping on each other this season. I thought jumping was saved for basketball!

PS ~ Just thought I'd give you a hard time
