Saw a bumper sticker on a Lexus this weekend that said "Hate is not a family value." Yet, the license plate read "BEOTCH." Has me wondering if profanity is a family value...

Bumper stickers are a great slice of Americana, but they do present some contradictions that may not be obvious to the owner. One of my favorites was on the back of a Ford SHO that said, "Buy American While You Still Can." Apparently, he did not know that his $6,000 engine option came from Yamaha. My teenager remarked on a beat up car with several bumper stickers a few weeks ago and I absently said, "Anyone with more than 2 bumper stickers has issues of their own." There was silence and when I turned to look, her brow was furled and she said, "Mom has 4."

I had to laugh at the women whose bumper sticker said "WWJD" and then she cut me off, gave me a familar "finger salute" and, if I read her mouth correctly, said something I would not want to repeat. Needs to read her own bumper sticker!!!!

I just saw one yesterday on a beat-up, dilapitated, old GEO Metro. "don't laugh mister..your daughter could be in here!" Thank goodness he was alone...as far as I could see.
