It’s DEAD! I barely crawled out of bed this morning. On Wednesday, I had a blood test as I knew that I was slowing down and my 6 weeks was due on Thursday. Today I felt like I was sick, tired or simply sick & tired. I went to the Dr. after lunch. I’m not sick. This is all just symptoms of a dead thyroid (freezing cold, sore muscles, memory loss – huh?, etc.).

The bad news is that it takes 6 weeks or more to see any improvement! I’m going to be like this for a while. My doctor had me take 7 pills today (a little unconventional he said) to jump start the system, but he assured me there was no down side to this. Unfortunately, I may not be worth a hoot for a few weeks.

After 6 weeks, I will go in to have a blood test and see where I’m at. Then they starting tweaking the synthroid to get it perfect for me.

Thanks for all of the prayers! Have a great weekend, everyone.

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
I'm glad the treatment finally worked for you. The side effects must be terribly inconvenient - but hang in there! We're all praying for you and wishing you well.

David,

The upside - if you call it one- as the cost of Rx goes, Synthroid is relatively inexpensive. It took a while to get my regulated to the correct dosage, but once they got it there, it's great.

It will get better - Really!

David - my pastor went through this exact same thing. Unfortunately, he did feel bad for a few weeks, but he did get much better! Good Luck on your recovery.

Congratulations Dave! It finally worked! I suggest going on a little vacation to somewhere warm (a cruise maybe??) in the next few weeks to pass the time until you are back to normal.

Hang in there - at least you know that what you are going through now is actually a GOOD thing!

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and well wishes. I've also received several emails from many of you. Gotta love BOL - more than just compliance!

On Saturday I could hardly get going. I literally fell asleep eating b-fast. My wife woke me and told me to go back to bed. What a way to spend your B-day. I felt like I had the flu all day. On Sunday, I wore long underwear (I have no body heat) under my dress clothes to church. I led our worship team and then sat down (completely exhausted) and shook during the sermon.

The long underwear worked so well (I can hear some of you laughing, but it's the only thing I have found to keep me some what warm), I wore a pair under my suit at the bank I was working at. Fortunately, I was working with another consultant who did about 80% of the work. I felt drugged most of the day and finally about 2 pm came around. Today I felt a little better, but didn't even get to the bank until about 10 am.

I'm not sure I can do this for 4 -6 weeks. I'm optimistic it will get better, but the next few weeks could be interesting. I've got to get to bed - it's after 10 pm!

You can absolutely do it. Just listen to your body and rest when you have to. Pushing yourself too hard serves no purpose - I'm sure that there are people around you that would be more than willing to help you out during this difficult time.

And you can always log on when you need a little moral support.

David,

As a fellow thyroid sufferer, I wish you the very best during this time! I still have my thyroid (I have hypo-thyroidism), but if my thyroid replacement medication is the lest bit "off" I feel like a total slug. I've experienced the same things you describe here with the complete exhaustion, feeling drugged, and being incredibly cold. It does get better! I just went through this a few months ago. I'd lost a bunch of weight and my medication was not the correct dosage. It took me about 4 weeks to finally feel normal.

I will continue to pray for you!

I usually shake during the sermon as well. But that another story. Hang in there, it will get better.

I've got Hashimoto's/Hypothyroidism and the ups and downs are hard to deal with. I'll remember you in my prayers and hope you feel better and warm soon.

Good one.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and kind words. Today, yesterday I had a tough day and really over did it. Today I'm paying for it. I couldn't even get to the office until 12:30. I haven't been able to concentrate very much. I should have just stayed home.

Hopefully, this will be over soon.

Doing great. Thanks to all of your for your concerns and prayers. On Wednesday of last week it was like someone threw a switch: I had my energy back! I still run down about 8 pm each night, but my days are much better.

Thanks again.
