Has anyone heard of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)?

If so, are you one? Or is it designation necessary?

Heard of it, seen it around a little. I am also looking into it. If nothing else, it will show the regulators that you are seriously dealing with the issues.

I received my CAMS certification in January 2004. As big-dog mentioned, it shows the regulators that you are serious about AML, and it can be a good move for your career in the future. I really learned a lot by studying for the test, especially about international AML issues.

One of my co-workers in our BSA dept. is certified, another recently sat for the exam, and one more will be in the near future. I think you'll find it worthwhile and the examiners seem to appreciate it as well.

Where do you take it? How much studying do you need?

Thank you very much. I am currently back-up for BSA and know within the next year it will be me so all the training I can get now is great.

Almost our entire team received their ACAMS designation. It was very stressful for them all, but it reaps great benefits.

I am planning to take the test later this year. I didn't get the exam prep yet. Is it imformatiove? Also, why was it so stressful?
