Anyone else awaiting the april 29th release of the hitchikers guide to the galaxy? I just saw the trailer for the movie, it looks pretty good but I am shocked that I did not know it was being made. I am a big Douglas Adams fan and after his death a few years ago I thought the movie would never be made.

I've been wait for years - I used to listen the BBC's original radio shows, back in the late 70's/ early 80's. Then BBC TV also made a pretty good TV series out of the first and second books in the series, but the movie trailer doesn't fill me with optimism as the producers have messed around with some of the characters; but I will definitely go to see it when it comes out.

I am! I love the books and want to see how they do the movie.

I've been following this release for a while. Naturally, it's not going to be "completely" faithful to the books; however, the casting of Martin Freeman (he played Tim in the BBC hit series "The Office") as Arthur Dent is a great choice in casting.

It has the added bonus of having been "blessed" by Douglas Adams himself before he died.

His wife and daughter are in it in cameo roles during the Vogons' speech.

I've already told my husband that we are seeing it on the 29th.

yeah, i'm sure the movie will be different from the other incarnations, the radio plays, the book, the t.v. show, and live adaptations. Douglas Adams said it would be too boring to do the same thing everytime.

Did anyone read the 5th and final book of the series 'Mostly Harmless'? if so what did you thing of the end?

I saw it today, anyone else? I thought it was pretty good, but I went in with an open mind. I was just happy to see anything new in the Hitchhikers universe.

I vaguely remembered the tv show on BBC, so I thought I'd see the movie. I really enjoyed it!! So much so that I bought the 5 part trilogy!! I thought Mos Def was a good cast for Ford Prefect even though he differs from the description of Ford I read in book so far.

I love the improbability drive! That's hilarious!

I saw it and was plesantly surprised. Hard to translate to a movie but I felt they did a pretty good job. My 10 yr old even liked it and he of course didn't know anything about the plot other than I told him it would probably not be like any other movie he has seen.

Opening musical number with dolphins was really different and set the tone for the whole movie.
