Small bears visit Busch tonight. (BYOOS.)

Apparently we will miss the opportunity to slap Kerry Wood around...too bad.

Jokerman, my youngest son moved to St Louis last year and is a staunch Cubs fan. His father can't figure out where he went wrong since he brought him up to be a Pittsburgh Pirates fan. He and his wife named the new puppy "Wrigley", have a Cubs flag, etc. So, do you think their neighbors will notice?????

I like your son. My dog's name is Wrigley, my daughter's middle name is Addison, and Jokerman, you may not have Wood to slap around, but be prepared to be Zambrano-ised tonight!

Zambrano-ised

Is that the state of being intentionally hit by the pitch following a game-breaking home run by the previous batter?

The flag or all the trash dumped in the yard?

Does this mean we can watch Zambrano wave his finger as he is being escorted to the locker room early?

Tip 'o the cap to Mr. Zambrano. Maybe he is growing up.

How many pitches did he wind up throwing? Smart move for Dusty in April?

I am a lifetime Cardinal fan and the Cubs games have always been especially fun. Alot of good natured kidding back and forth between the two groups of fans. When my husband and I were dating we went to Chicago for a weekend series in 1984. Saw a fabulous game, enjoyed Wrigley, had great Cubs fans around us and when the game was over, my husband proposed. This year we gave our teenage son for Christmas tickets to 4 Cardinal/Cub games and the first one was last night. Talk about the "circle of life".

Jokerman, we are coming to St Louis for the Cards/Pirates games in late June. Since the Pirates are sooooooo bad right now I'm sure St Louis fans won't mind a few Pittsburgh fans being in town.

118 pitches in 8 2/3 innings (80 of those for strikes by the way) - Suppan pitched 106 in 6 1/3 innings. Zambrano is a bulldog - 118 is nothing for him. Dusty needed a bit of rest for his bullpen. And believe it or not, I am not that upset that Nomar will be out for awhile. Will give Hairston, Perez and Dubois more playing time.

Now, prepare to be Dempsterized!

What's that word that rhymes with June?

Anyway, CubDave, what do you think the small bears will wind up paying Nomar per at bat this year?

So long as you lose properly... Hope you have a good time, just the same.

Ok, last night's game was just weird. Was it a full moon? First, we have Edmonds misplaying balls in the outfield. Not once, but twice! He NEVER does this. If I was told that one of the outfielders was a 7 time gold glove winner, I'd think it Patterson based on last night. Secondly, was it just me or did Hawkins actually get a save? Now I know that he only needed one out, but he didn't give up a hit! I guess it must not be September...

And for the record, I'm a huge Cubs fan...

Too much for sure - well Jokerman, that's ok though. I am sure Edmunds will go down for awhile too. There is one thing our two clubs have in common though - intolerable managers.

Dusty is not a tactician, and is full of himself.

LaRussa is the most arrogant, smug manager in the league and I dislike him more than any player you may have on that team, including Edmunds who may as well be LaRussa with a bat - the difference being that Edmunds is one helluva ballplayer.

I was watching the game on Comcast (I don't know why because the Cardinals have better announcers now), and Rolen's at bat in the 9th. On a called strike, the cameras cut away to show LaRussa's reaction. As if on cue, with the microphone pointed towards him, he yelled at the top of his lungs "Bull$hit!" The camera stayed for another few seconds and then cut away. It seemed like he did it on cue, and I thought it was HILARIOUS! Did anyone else see it?

Good comparison, but Edmonds isn't as bad as Nomar, especially in the last five years or so. The most Edmonds has missed as a Redbird (knock on wood), is 25 games.

Intolerable? I know that LaRussa's intensity annoys those on the other side, but I certainly don't find him intorlerable. I would also say that when the press comes questioning, he is more likely than most managers to second-guess his calls, and he is very good about not calling out poor player performance - he'll take the blame, instead. My only problem with LaRussa has been some past decisions with his pitching, and, last year, I had no complaint at all (Fassero was gone, thank God).

Ok, it's time to take a big swig of chill-out juice. (It's Edmonds, by the way.)

Jokerman - thanks for the correction. I actually did know it is Edmonds, but still made the error. I'll never chill out about LaRussa, though. I disliked him when he was with the White Sox, and nothing will change my mind. He's a crybaby manager.

Well, it rhymes, but I think Downstown's suggestion better fits the historical context.

I woke up at 2:00 AM with a headache and was chanel surfing when I came across the re-broadcast of the Cubs game. By the time they were up 3 - zip I was feeling so good I drifted back to sleep and didn't wake up until 6:00.

The boys from Wriggly aren't just fun to watch, they're medicinal!

By the way. . . in a battle between a "small bear" and a bird I'm betting on the bear every time.

How old are you anyway? I guess we could find out the series result for each year of your life and add them up to see how you'd fare. If you are 150 years old, let us know--you will save us some time calculating because Cubs hold the overall advantage.
