I believe there is more potential exposure to limiting your hot-carding to notices from the actual cardholder than to allow joint account holders to alert you on their behalf. If you had refused the notification from the first owner and actual unauthorized transfers occurred because of your refusal to hot-card, you'd have a bigger mess to clean up.

We generally let joint owners hot card cards, but we have instances where people get mad at each other start closing each other's cards out of spite.

We are looking at this issue too. What would be the risk if you did hot card in error? Worst case scenario, someone gets mad at someone and tries to shut down their card. Is this just a risk judgement call for management?
