Currently, we are not using an attendance policy. Well, we have not been disciplining for "bad attendance". For several years now, our HR department has not been tracking time and attendance other than vacation & personal days (paid time off). Even that tracking is questionable. There are no request/authorization forms to be filled out, turned in, approved or disapproved, and then filed (for hourly personnel). All the tracking is done by hand when the time cards are turned in for payroll (after the fact). I would like to implement an attendance policy that disciplines the employees that abuse the rules (go beyond the vacation & personal days allotted) and praises the employees that stay within the guidelines if not go above and beyond the call of duty. Does anybody have some good input as to what works; maybe even a sample or two?
