My bank is working with a mortgage co. in Texas to offer 1st lien home purchase loans. I need to learn whatever I can about Texas state law - any extras or overrides of federal law on home purchase loans. Any suggestions? What's a good source? I'd rather just ignore this and wish it away but that's not going to happen!

You're about to enter a hornets nest!! I know you're not going to like this advice, but the best (and about the only) way to approach this is to get in touch with a good Texas attorney and let them lead you through it. The business of real estate lending in Texas is very complicated!

First liens are not nearly as tough as second liens in Texas, but you should get a referral to a Texas lawyer before embarking on this journey.
