* Keyboard players who can't keep their left hand away from the bass guitarist's territory.

* Drummers who don't listen to what anyone else in the band is playing.

* Lead guitar players who think they can play rhythm, but don't have a clue.

* Bass players who play lead guitar like it's a bass.

* Singers who whine that the stage volume of the bass or drums is too loud.

* Sound technicians who mute channels on the board without warning for no apparent reason.

* Ovation guitars.

These are great!

How about singers who hold the mic over the crowd to sing the chorus? What are we paying you for, dude?

Guitarists who get a new toy (wah or whammy pedal) and use band rehearsal time to learn how to (over)use it?

Bass players who play with a pick.

Those keyboards that are strapped over the shoulder like a guitar.

Line6 amplifiers.

Drummers who don't own a truck.

What do you call a guy who hangs out with musicians?

A drummer.

(A drummer friend told me that joke, so I feel okay repeating it )

Agreed - those should have been left behind with the '80s. You can play guitar, you can play keyboards, but you can only play one at a time.

What do you call a drummer who breaks up with his girlfriend?

Homeless.

Now wait a minute, I said just wwwwaaaaaait a minute there, Guitar Dude. I resemble that remark. I use a pick sometimes. Not often. But sometimes it's the only way to get that feel you're looking for, especially when there's no other guitar player in the band.

By the way, one of my favorite bassists, Chris Squire, of "Yes" uses a pick.

what about people thinking they should have the power to kill a defenseless baby? not much respect there huh?

X darling don't assume it's all about you Although when you added the second list of pet peeves you probably did hit some level near "too many".

Looks as if it is time to start ignoring the x boy. He is back to showing his angry/hateful personality.

New BOLers, Don't respond to his rants. If you ignore him, he will eventually go to his cave and calm down.

So true. I hate Line 6 and bassists shouldn't be allowed to own picks.

I also hate when bands really suck, yet they still act really snobby and spends tons of money in a recording studio. Being a sound engineering major, however, I'll probably have to get used to this.

I hate it when guitars try to harmonize when they're out of tune.

I hate when venues tell a band to stop in the middle of a song just to preserve a schedule.

I hate getting electrocuted by music equipment.

I hate everyone who repairs my guitar. They always screw up and/or overcharge me.

_X_: Man am I glad I don't know you. And if I did know you, I certainly wouldn't want to hang out with you. Is there anything besides negativity in your life? Scratch that. I really don't care about the answer.

#1: Yes, the technology is truly lowering the bar talent-wise. It peeves me when a band sounds good on record but stinks live, i.e., Guns 'n Roses, Green Day, etc.

#2: Read: Metallica. Are these guys ever in tune? Not that they play anything worth listening to anymore...

Back to the subject:

People who can't afford children - continuing to have children.

People who treat service staff with less than complete respect.

Valley girls who, like, call, you know? and, like, ask me stupid questions, you know? All "like" people that over "like" use "like" that word should "like" be sent to "like" GITMO.

The same commercials or program promos that are run, and run, and run again every few minutes until I change the channel just to get away from them.

How about the 2 way phones (Nextel)? It is bad enough I have to hear one end of the conversation-but both? I know they have their practical purposes, but as a "phone" they drive me crazy...

Well, well, I see that we have some--how shall I say it--umm, purists on BOL, so I'll add a couple of more.

* Finger tapping lead guitar style (for example, Eddie Van Halen, but not to be confused with acoustic fingerstyle tapping, for example, Michael Hedges & Phil Keaggy).

* Comments suggesting that "real" bass players don't use picks.

* When music store salesmen who you've never met before treat you like you're their best friend.

* People who are really just showing off at the music store when "testing" an instrument or amp.

* Mars Music stores.

* Rap "music."

My biggest pet peeve is when my honey dips the knife into the peanut butter first, and then the jelly while making sandwiches. I don't like peanut butter and he is contaminating my jelly supply with peanut butter flavor! I keep trying to just buy him his own jelly...but somehow the problem persists...

When my honey opens the silverware drawer and leaves it open! We always have crums in our forks because the toaster sits right about the drawer.
