Does anyone know if there is a web service or toll free number that a creditor or bank may use to determine if an individual is on active military duty, for purposes of the SCRA? Thanks in advance.

Are financial institutions free to use the link to the DMDC to verify active duty status for SCRA purposes? I could not find any requirements to register or provide any type of login/password and wanted to verify. Thanks!

Yes. It is, or at least was, open to anyone when I last looked at it. It isn't designed to provide you with confidential data such as a SSN. It is meant to make SCRA compliance easier and save DOD staff time.

Does any know how the 'begin date' works for someone who was in the military but is now in the reserves? Borrower was in the military for 21 years at time of application in 2002. Orders indicate borrower called to active duty May 23, 2006 from reserves. Begin date on DMDC shows May 23, 2003. Does/should the 'begin date' reflect the date the person was called to active duty? Is there a way to determine if they were active at time of application in 2002? Thanks!
