I'm rooting for them, too, Z, since an Astros' wild card will mean the Cards play the winner in the West, certain to be the worst playoff team in recent history.

Yikes. I think I jinxed them last night. Clemens vs. Snell? The local radio sports guys were making fun of him yesterday and saying they should lay money on the game because the odds were probably 50-1 against Snell. But they said that at 50-1 they'd still be throwing their money away. They should have made the bet.

I just wish my loser Phillies would choke already so I can start watching my adopted team the 'Stros.

[the writer] does raise the point of RBI per opportunity. Lee has done more with what's been given to him by his lineup than Pujols has. That's been my argument all along...

Uh, Blue, you're talking about a difference of .003 here, right? THAT is how you're going to decide the MVP?

Well that and the fact that Lee is better at defense.

I would only add, it's obvious that George W Bush hates white (sox) people.

The White Sox get absolutely no respect. When they were kicking everyone's a$$ earlier this year - you never heard about them. Especially on the Eastern Seaboard Programming Network! Now, they are having a little trouble and boom ESPN is LEADING with them. I hope the Sox kick everyone's butt from here on out and make the media eat their words. GO SOX! GO SOX! GO SOX!

Oh, come now. If the White Sox blow this lead, it will be worse that Philly in '64. It is big news.

I hope the SOX lose. No offense to the fans or the team because I root for them because they are an underdog in their own town. I hate how all the "experts" were giving them first seed in the playoffs 2 months into the season as if they were a given in a 162 game season. Speaking of the Phillies, it looks like I can start rooting for the 'Stros now.

Granted - IF they blow it it's news. They haven't blown it yet. And where was everyone when they were WINNING?

Ron Mexico - there weren't very many people picking the White Sox - especially in the Midwest. If you were hearing that on ESPN - it was probably just because they paid so little attention to them during the heart of the season when they saw their record at the All-Star break they had to start back-peddling and talking about how great the team is. ESPN is a joke!

Actually, I thought alot of the heads on ESPN were singing their praises in the beginning of the year. To be honest I wish both them and cleveland would make it because I hate the other teams involved. ESPN is a joke though in general. They have fed way too much off of themselves. And on that note does anyone else hate Stuart Scott?

???

This is not my understanding of what it means to root for a team.

I'm a phils fan. I shouldve explained myself better. I was "rooting" against them in the sense that I thought that the ESPN heads annointed them champs already and I like to watch them eat crow.

Didn't you say before you hope the Sox lose? Or were you talking about the BoSox?

Sorry I posted what I did. I just do stream of consciousness way too much. Should have reasoned it out a bit more.

So if the White Sox blow their lead and miss the playoffs would that be a bigger choke than the Yankees in the playoff's last year.
Tonights game was a heart breaker, I hope the Sox beat the twins when I see them Saturday. I might be lucky enough to catch the Cubs that afternoon and then see the Sox that evening, good times.

I think biggest choke is very relative vis-a-vis who you follow.

Hey - have fun at the game! Bring the White Sox some good luck and if you see my man, A.J., tell him what a freakin' stud he is!

ahhhh well I salute the Cleveland Indians- I truly wish they would have made it- but I've been a fan of theirs' for a long long time- win or lose. So as we always say time and time again - "wait until next year" that again gets pretty old- but I already miss watching the games- so until next year- great season guys!
