Does anyone know if there is a simplified
example of various account styles to aid new accounts people in styling of account.
We are having new people in this section and
I'm trying to find something that is helpful
yet simplified enough to where its easier for
the new employee, just learning the new account area. We have some information on this area, but I need something more like
the ach quick look sheets.
Thanks

Hopefully this will help. This is old, but hopefully still accurate. If anyone blows off the dust and has a correction, please let me know.

And now, a word from our sponsors . . .

Couldn't resist a short commercial plug here for the Operations Matrices which we sell in the Banker Store. Included in the set are two two-sided matrices on new account documentation. One is for personal accounts (and covers individual accounts, joint tenancy accounts with right of survivorship, tenants in common accounts, grantor trust accounts, UTMA accounts, estate accounts, accounts in the name of a minor.) The other covers business and entity accounts (sole proprietorships, corporations, limited partnerships, limited liability companies, general partnerships, irrevocable trusts, IOLTA, and escrow accounts. Each matrix shows the type of account, description, account styling, documentation required, proper TIN, who is authorized to sign, and special rules for adding and deleting. There are also miscellaneous tips.

Although they are currently part of the set of Operations Matrices, we have had inquiries about selling individual matrices outside the set and are also willing to price them individually. There are also discounts for multiple purchases.

Here's where you get to the matrices in the store:

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming . . . ;-)

this is a great list..
my question is.. For "or" accounts or any other accounts, do we have to have the owner w. tax ID first in the titling??
Could you have John Smith or Mary Smith.. they are both owners, you would have two tax IDs. Does it matter the title order on this account? Mary 1st, John 2nd...

Thanks.

It may matter to Mary or John, but it should not matter to you or your service bureau.

Some systems automatically set the first line to be sent on any 1099-type form to the IRS, since the IRS doesn't use more than one name line. If that matters to your customer, make sure you've got it right.

And, in case someone asks, the order of the owners' appearance on the account means nothing when it comes to FDIC insurance coverage. A, B, C is the same as B, A, C, is the same as C, A, B, etc.
