Any other quilters out there? We all love the details so there has to be someone other than myself out there. Love to know who and your favorites. Mine are the oldies, esp. civil war reproductions (patterns and fabrics). Also love the '30s.

My mom does, and did a really neat family quilt for me last Christmas; family photos, dates, and familiar quotes from growing up. I must admit, reading the subject line very quickly before clicking in, I though it read, "I guilt to de-stress". While I don't do that, I know people who do.

I cross-stitch and crochet. I'm starting to quilt and it's pretty complicated!

I cross-stitch or read. I would love to learn to quilt and it was my goal for 2005, but haven't started yet so I don't think it will happen this year.

I thought it said "I Quit" to destress LOL I quilt I started a couple of years ago by making a victorian crazy quilt for my sweetie and have made...oh heck I can't count them up since then. The bank even buys my silk so I can make quilts for them to donate to charity now. (We featured one in our last annual report that sold for $10M). I'm now in a rush to finish a quilt for my baby room (since monkey's are apparently not in currently) and I've begged BOL's Suzie to do one for the cradle (since red/black and white are not "in" either) lol We'll see if Suzie or I can get done before the little guy gets here. I am fascinated by crazy quilts, but do all types. I enjoy working with the really exotic fabrics, hence the fun with crazy quilts, but I also buy quilt tops on ebay to restore that are flour sack quilts. Those are very cool. We should do a quilters comparison to make us all feel better about our "Stash". So umm how much fabric do YOU have "stashed"? Do you have to count by the quarter yard? yard? bins? or hundreds of yards? LOL

Oh wait, I forgot we're talking to smart sewers here LOL I piece I pay people to "quilt" for me. (I have quilted a few on machine, but not many). Crazy quilts are not quilted, which means that I only have to pay up half the time I also am too lazy to hand sew on my binding I pay 30 cents an inch for it. She thinks it's highway robbery (and still charges that) while I'd gladly pay 40 cents LOL

Ok, I need my eyes checked. I thought it said "I guilt" I did think that was a strange way to de-stress.

Yes, piece is more exact. I piece, machine and by hand. I quilt less by hand but have not given up all hope. All the typing for policies, etc. made my fingers stiff. Well, my stash. that is another story! I cleaned up my stash this summer and found fabric I had forgotten I purchased. Pretty, too! I am using some fabrics that are less cute now as my backing fabric. This, of course, makes room for the new fabric lines! So, I don't smoke, drink very few glasses of wine during the year and don't spend bundles on clothes...so my fabric is my vice. And what a pretty vice, especially the fat quarters lines up so nicely. Sounds grest that your bank helps to pay for the fabric so you can make the charity quilts. Good for them and you. Any interest in a stash exchange..?

Lol, I thought you said, "I quit to de-stress, anyone else?"
I was going to say, yeah, that probably works until the next mortgage payment comes due.

I like to make simple quilts. Strips and squares mostly. I did about 8 last year and have done about 4 this year. I also like to do needle turn applique, but that takes too long. I bought a Block of the Month set and I've been on January for about 6 years. I did a Stack n Whack, while it was fun to cut and lay out, it was a royal "B" to piece (8-pointed stars). By the time I had 12 blocks done, I finally figured it out. It is a really nice quilt, but it will be the only one I ever make like THAT! A couple of years ago, I took a class in machine quilting. LOVE to meander! However, I probably would pay someone to do anything larger than full size. Love the stash! I graduated from drawers to bins, now I need to sew faster or shop less.
