I've recently transfered to another office, and have to leave the house an hour earlier. This means getting up at 5:15! I have tried going to bed earlier, but I just can't seem to get to sleep. Sleeping pills, warm milk, valerian root-nothing has worked. Does anyone have a suggestion for "resetting" my clock?

I usually drink a cup of valerian root tea and take a hot bath - seems to relax me enough to become tired

Either that or simply sleep! ha!

I'm the same way. I can't do mornings, but no matter how tired I am, I can't seem to go to sleep any earlier. I just struggle in the morning and early afternoon I'm ok. I look forward to the weekends and sleep until 8 or 9... Sorry I can't help you.

Have you tried taking melatonin. Your body naturally produces it but you can buy it at Walmart. It is safe taken in the right doses as far as I know. My sister in law used to give it to her son. The Dr. said it was ok. Better than giving him Nyquil (sp)? Good luck. I am a morning person myself. I am usually ready to settle in around 8:00pm. I get up early even on the weekends. I have recently aquired a new duty at work That requires me to get up and be at work an hour earlier also. I love it!!!

I get up at 4:30 every morning. But to do this I have to go to bed no later than 9 pm. Any later than that and I can't get up in the morning. Melatonin has always worked to help me get to sleep.

What is valerian tea? Where do you get it? I love tea, but have never heard about this one.

Viking Princess - does it help you fall asleep or sleep through the night or both?

I think it helps you fall asleep while in the bath, so you wake up looking like your grandma...

I usually drink chamomile/valerian tea and than take a hot bath...it's mixed already together in the tea bag. It definitely has a calming affect, you can actually feel it relaxing you...so it does for me. By the time I'm done with my bath I am more than ready to fall asleep. I work two jobs - with about 6 hours of split sleep so I have to force myself to sleep...I find this method works best. At least it's natural and you're not taking medicine like Tylenol PM or something more potent. I like simply sleep on the weekends but you have to be able to commit at least 8 hours of sleep in order to take that.

I'm a morning shower person (unless I've been out in the barn) so a relaxing bath in lavender just doesn't work. I have used the lotions though. Johnson and Johnson is ok...but the Baby Magic is my favorite.

Not that I personally use hand creams or lotions myself, but when I would grease the kids up after their baths when they were little I really liked the smell of the Baby Magic bedtime lavender lotion.

Do you make sure you don't have caffeine after noon or so? That might help.

I take a hot bath with essential oils (lavender and chamomile). I also take calcium and magnesium (helps with my restless legs syndrome).

I can't take baths because a) I'm too tall to fit in the tub, and b) I get bored within the first 2 minutes. Staring at the bad calking in by bathtub is just not relaxing!

don't hate me cause I don't sleep, but usually not in bed until after midnight (although often much later) and up at 4:30...been doing this since high school. I'm fortunate ebough not to need much sleep, 3-4 hours and I'm good. My parents always thought somehting was wrong with me and sent me to doctor after doctor. No one has ever figured out why I don't need much.
