For those of us who haven't always been in banking what were some of the jobs you used to have?

I was a bus boy, park maintenance, tow truck driver, pizza delivery, limo driver.

I was a fast food worker, bartender, hotel front desk supervisor, and advertising sales person.

I used to manage Kay's and Shaw's jeweler's. Much more money than this banking stuff, but the hours were nuts. I had to choose my family over money.

In college I had a job with a local business machine store. I would drive to businesses to perform preventive maintenance on electric typewriters. This was in the days before PCs. (Yes I'm showing my age.) Most of the machines were IBM Selectrics (remember those), but I saw other older IBM typewriters too.

I also had a job as an optician. Pretty boring, I must say.

In my banking career I've been: drive-up teller, lobby teller, loan clerk, consumer loan officer, and then into compliance management.

Freelance makeup artist (did a bit for Manhattan Bride that I was proud of),

Starbucks,

tee shrit grafics designer (sounds more impressive than it was, the boss didn't like most of my ideas and I mostly worked in the factory cleaning up embroidered designs with tiny scissors),

cleaning my dads welding shop,

Borders,

Nordstroms cosmetics department,

Clinique Associate Consultant (the girls they hire for "gift with purchase" to stand on the isle, squirt you with Happy and try to lure you to the counter)

Mario Badescu (girls, open up your glamour magazine to the back advertisment pages and look for the "Pimple Healer", see the number for mail order? yep, that was me answering the phone and asking you exactly what kind of pimple you have..."describe it to me")

and I'm only 24!

In high school I worked at the local YMCA (my dad was the director ). In college I worked at the counter of a dry cleaners, in the financial aide directors office for the college, YMCA camp counselor every summer and taught swimming to the kids from the area. Before my boys were born, I was a teachers aide at a grade school. Seems like another life time ago

And now I'm a slave at a bank... And I'm only 22 years old.
