After watching a bit of CSI Miami last night, I can't decide whether David Caruso or William Shatner (in Star Trek) is the bigger ham of an actor! The pregnant pauses in the delivery of each line of dialogue just kill me!!!!!

I -- don't -- know -- what -- you -- mean?

Caruso probably went to the Shatner school of acting.

I think Caruso may have a little bit of the ham edge over Shatner as he always whispers to "intensify" the drama. Shhhhhh.

But David Caruso has one big advantage over William Shatner. David Caruso has sunglasses he can take off or put on for added effect.

I can't stand the way his head is always tilted to one side. Reminds me of another Star Trek alum...

I happen to love Shatner on Boston Legal.

Can Caruso sing ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’ like Shatner, I think not!

I always thought Shatner was hammy in Star Trek, but then he went on to play other characters which were so unlike Capt. Kirk. So I guess he is a pretty good actor.

I have never seen David Caruso play anything but the Horatio Caine type of character in anything he has done, so I guess he is not as good an actor.

I still like him though. I feel comfortable with the H man.

Shatner is brie compared to Caruso's Velveeta acting. Caruso wouldn't be able to act if he didn't have sunglasses to fiddle with throughout the entire show.

What kind of sunglasses does he wear, Maui Jim?

Wasn't David Caruso in NYPD Blue? The first time I remember seeing him was in An Officer and a Gentleman. He played the officer candidate that freaked in the water crash test. I never did like him. I do watch all the CSI's, but Miami is my least favorite because of Caruso.

I grew up watching Star Trek, and yes, it was corny, but I loved the entire cast, including William Shatner.

Miami is the only CSI I don't watch, and that's because of Caruso. I agree w/ Miss Chee's comment on the sunglasses -- they're an obsession with him. And the Hummer is definitely over the top.

All over the map.
Did Caruso seem to have more makeup on last night or something? He always seems Pasty, but something about him looked more off than usual.

Caruso drives a Hummer, Shatner had a silly old ship that could barely get into warp drive whenever necessary.

On the personal side, Caruso is a really nice guy (and he pauses when he talks personally sometimes too) and Shatner is a pric...Umm can I put a k on the end of that word without beind censored?

Caruso has red hair. Shatner has a hair piece

Caruso never had trouble with trivits.

Caruso likes red heads (Dawnie is a red head)

Caruso does need to drop those damn glasses and let me step on them, but heck, Shatner always posed on that danged captain's chair like a geek, so each has their issues

One imagines that Caruso actually could get a girl (if you know what I mean) where as Shatner....he never did manage to make it to homeplate

Dawnie - I don't disagree, but would offer only a couple of observations.

Hummers are less cool because of their fuel mileage, and the fact that they don't have photon torpedoes.

Shatner was the first to kiss an African American (and a green chick) on network TV - and he "made it to homeplate" at least once. ("Klingon bastard, you killed my son!")

Shatner's glasses were lamer than Caruso's.

Heather Locklear was a much more appealing partner than Andy Sipowicz.

It's funny because I don't mind watching Shatner but I can't stand Caruso.

Shatner had trouble with stands used to hold up hot plates? And here I thought he had trouble with Tribbles, which at least he and his cohorts could figure out how to solve. I'm not so sure Caruso could.

Did anyone catch Shatner's line last night on Boston Legal,
"Sorry, your honor, I have mad cow disease." LOL!
