Would anyone like to share their Thanksgiving plans?

I'm not sure what I'm doing this year because my father has been ill and I'm not sure he can handle all of the food and commotion that is the hallmark of our family celebrations.

I've very thankful not to have any cooking responsibilities this year! I'll be visiting family in St. Louis who'll be providing Thanksgiving dinner to me and my two sons.

Cheesy comment for the day: I really can't wait to start a family of my own because I really want to have thanksgiving dinner because I love to cook (and I know how to make a juicy turkey!)

Hey, Ron?

You don't plan on adding that to your "will you marry me" proposition, do you?

I won't overtly add it but my all-encompassing "will you marry me" request will implicitly include taking my culinary abilites including my prowess in making a darn juicy turkey.

I have always had to go to two dinners. I suppose that is part of having divorced parents! We go to my dad & stepmom's at noon, then my mom's at 5:00. Thank goodness my husband's family lives too far away, we don't have to squeeze them in on Thanksgiving day. We go there next week for an early Thanksgiving! I am looking forward to eating!!! I am not a good cook. But I do make delicious sweet potatoes! (My usual assignment for mom's dinner, we usually have about 40 people there!)

I think I'm in the minority but I hate sweet taters.

I think I'm in the majority with those really looking forward to thanksgiving AND those that this thread makes really hungry.

I make this killer corn casserole that I am REQUIRED to bring to any family event that includes food (which would be all of them). I live by myself so I love any reason to get a real meal instead of a Smart Ones microwaved treat.

I LOVE Thanksgiving! We go to a family friends house who owns a catering business. Its excellent! My Mom tried to make us stay home as a family the first year I was married, but we all complained about missing out on the good food. Now we go every year and our family bring pop and Mom's sweet potatoes which are to die for with candied walnuts on top! Yum!

Dry turkey does blow. I was at a friend's house once for Thanksgiving and didn't think I would be able to get it down. I felt like one of my cats trying to bring up a hairball.

We will be hosting Thanksgiving at our house. There will be about 35 people who will attend. It is a lot of work, but we love hosting and remodeled our house and added on to it so we could have room to host this huge group. We will have all the traditional trimmings and more food than you can imagine.

Then it is football time and I get to show off my new toy, a 55' Sony Grand Wega LCD hi-def tv with Bose surround sound.

I'll be watching the Colts hopefully kick New England's butt tonight on it on Monday Night Football. Are you ready for some football?? Go Colts!!!

My husband is working that day, so the kids and I are going to the movies and we'll have Thanksgiving on Saturday. We usually do this every year and it's really not as depressing as it sounds!

Signed,
Another Anon

AA, growing up we always did our own little nuclear (dysfunctional) family turkey day on the weekend. The turkey and stuffing was actually better too.

I used to do something like that, Anon. My parents and sister would go to an aunt and uncle's house on my Dad's side of the family for Thanksgiving. I never liked going so I didn't, and then we would celebrate on the weekend with Mom's family. I loved spending Thanksgiving in my PJ's watching movies.
