I'm sure you can buy a deep fryer and peanut oil at Wal-Mart. I think that is where my dad got his.

If I tried doing it myself I would probably burn the garage down.

Michelle, you would be surprised at how easy it really is. Much easier then baking it in the oven, and no basting required.
Sorry, Ron. I don't have the culinary skills that you do. I need to baste the turkey.

???
I have never deep fried one. As far as regular turkey baking the secret is the oven bag. Very simple. Very fail-safe too. I challenge you to make a dry turkey in an oven bag.

The bag has to eventually come off, so that the skin can brown...

The skin still browns in the bag.

well, have a nice break michelle...

Ron, mine doesn't... I always have to juice it, so that it's crispy and brown, and tasty. (The skin is close to my favorite part)

hmmm interesting.

I know that i've always had brown skin but maybe not as brown as you like. You still need to oil and spice the skin before you start cooking. For me the moist turkey is a worthwhile trade-off all things considered. Such as getting everything else ready and watching football while cooking.

even if you use or don't use the bag, be sure to give your bird a good 25 minutes before slicing too.

Ron,
You should volunteer to work for the Butterball Turkey Helpline...:)

Has anyone seen that commercial about the Turkey Hotline command center. It is so funny!

I love the pumpkin pie Blizzard at DQ. Looks like we won't be having a traditional Thanksgiving because of Dad's health this year. Bummer.

No I live in Missouri, but I spend my holidays up in Minnesota at the farm, so more often than not my wish for snow is usually fulfilled

My husband and I cook every year. We have both our families and some others that don't have extended families. (about 15 folks)
I've been looking for some new receipes this year. Anyone want to share? I'm trying crock pot cornbread dressing out of Southern Living. Free up some oven space. How about potato receipes, sweet or regular?
