When you amend an exemption is it done the same way as a CTR? Do you mark the amended box and only fill out part lll and the missing information? I my case the missing information is the date in part lll. Just want to make sure I'm doing it right.

I think it depends on what kind of amendment it is. When my bank improperly exempted (7 ctrs and not 8) a business, we called the IRS Detroit Computing Center. They sent us a checklist to fill out and later determined nothing more was needed. I would contact the computing center and ask them what you need to do. I hope that helps.

We did call and they said to file an amended exemption with the proper date. I just want to make sure I'm doing it right.

I would go with whatever they said. I would just maybe document what they said for CYA purposes and be done.

I would just fill out the part that needs to be corected, section III and attach a copy of the original CTR with it. Just follow what the directions state on the CTR form.

Thanks BankerKB, that's what I thought but just wanted someone else to say it
