This maybe a stupid question, but I am going to ask it. When filing a CTR, I know we have like 15 days to file it. Does the time begin from the date of the transaction?

It should be "in the mail" within 15 calendar days of the transaction.

If you file electronically or magnetically you have 25 days from the date of the transaction to file them.

We've had no problem with our examiners (FDIC just left) using the "in the mail" within 15 day policy that devsfan refers to.

According to CTR directions from the CTR form it states:

When and Where To File. File this CTR by the 15th
calendar day after the day of the transaction with the:
IRS Detroit Computing Center
ATTN: CTR
P.O. Box 33604
Detroit, MI 48232-5604
