Are there any state laws that limit the fee that banks can charge for cashing a non-customer check? If so, can you provide me directions to access the material? I have researched this and have been unable to locate any limitations, specifically Alabama.

Let me clarify, my questions refer to checks cashed for non-customers that are not drawn on us. We currently do not charge a fee to non-customers if we are cashing a check drawn on us.

Thank you so much for your help.

The above article is nice, but based on its older date, it doesn't seem to deal head-on with OFAC and the current pressure on BSA/AML/CIP etc. Is there something more current? Are there certain types of checks, such as cashier's checks, that a bank is required to process for non-customers?
