We had been advised that VISA's are not necessarily a good document to accept for ID purposes under our CIP program. Does anyone have any experience with, and comments about Permanent Resident Cards?

If a person is a resident alien with a green card (I-551) that could readily be accepted as primary identification. A visa is helpful only in conjunction with a foreign passport.

Here's a somewhat aged prior thread regarding the visa's role in establishing identity.

The only potential drawback to a Permanent Resident card is they have no signature or address on them. At least, the one I have does not have either of those on them. On the other hand they seem to have a lot of security features built in, so one would think that they are very difficult to forge.
