I am not much of a NFL fan, I prefer college ball, but I guess I'll be cheering for Pittsburgh. So anyway, here's a little prayer for them.. A guy I work with brought this in the other day.

Our Father,
who is Art Rooney in Heaven,
football be thy game.
Thy kingdom come,
4 Super Bowls won,
on earth as it is at Heinz Field.

Give us this day our playoff victory,
and forgive us our penalties,
As we defeat those who play against us.
Lead us to a playoff victory,
and deliver us to Detroit.

A-Ben

I'm in a "SuperBowl City". I heard a newscast tonight that tons of Pittsburgh fans plan to come here to Detroit this weekend without reservations. Really bad idea! About the closest you'll get is Toledo. Due to security there will be no parking on the streets in Detroit and people will be bussed in from certain suburbs. Most hotels have been booked for months.
I've been impressed with many of the media comments, although there has been the normal bashing. As bad as Detroit can seem, I've always loved the city, but never the adminisration, ie. Coleman and Kwame, liked Dennis Archer ( who actually had a brain and said that the Detroit kids needed to speak the "Kings English" in his speech, what a unique thought!
I don't actually live in the city, but the city is such a large part of the suburbs that we always think of it as one in the same.
Most positive media reports how much we, the people, are extremely warm and receptive. And that is the way we really are.
So go figure, many of us that are educated, live in the surrounding areas, enjoy the city (yes most of us go there for the entertainment without fear)(I lived downtown for years without any crime against me and walked the streets after dark as a single white women). I really hope that people take away a good image of Detroit. Would I like to live somewhere else? Yes, I hate snow and cold weather, but I do love the people, we truly have really good people that do the extra mile for you.

Slick, thanks for the support. Great Prayer! I'll pass that around the office . . . I'm sure it will be a hoot.

Big Steeler fan here!

I hope it's a great superbowl. The taste of the last one against the cowboys has lingered long enough.

Didn't Rooney take your last Super Bowl win with him to Heaven? Cause it's been a long time since you've been there....

Way, way south.
Originally from Pittsburgh, love the city.

I wish they would clam up and be the underdog as they seem to do better in that situation, but it's too late now.

Anyway, GO STEELERS!!!!

I pledged allegiance to the towel
of the United Nation of Steeler Fans....

We've had Steeler week here at my Bank, and not surprisingly most people had enough Black and Gold for the whole week. Also have a 'tail-gate' party planned for lunch on Friday.

COWHER POWER baby!!!!

Super Trivia: Jerome Bettis was given the key to the city of Detroit the other day. Can you name the last person to be awarded the key to the city of Detroit?

OK, how about the last non-fictional person to be awarded the key to the city of Detroit.

Slick,

I hope you don't mind but I put a little twist on your prayer. Steeler BOLers, see how this sounds.

Our father, who is Art Rooney in heaven,
football be thy game.
Thy kingdom come,
4 Super Bowls won on earth, a 5th we'd be in heaven.

Give us this day our Super Bowl win,
and forgive us our penalties,
As we defeat Seahawks who play against us,
and lead us not into a "Ball of Confusion" by the Temptations, *
but deliver us from Bowl failure.

A-Ben

* For those of you who do not get this part . . . The Temptations were a major recording group in the 60's and early 70s from Motown . . . aka Detroit. Ball of Confusion was a one of their top radio hits.

Lets see, who was the mayor in 1980? Well golly gee, that would be Coleman Young. That explains it! From one dictator to another! From one who stole from the people to another! Gee there are so many similarities between them, too many to bother listing.

I was originally for the Hawks, but after all their shenanigans, I am switching to the Steelers. Polamalu will be all over field! I do want to see Shawn Alexander score at least one touchdown so I can see his big dance. Though, nothing will ever beat Chad Johnson's river dance. Hilarious! Steelers roll 27-14.

Thanks Slick. Every now and then I have to do a little something creative to keep my sanity amidst all of these regs that I deal with.

Ok Where's the rest of the Steeler BOL Nation?????

Hey, have you heard all the silly Steeler's songs they have out now?? Very entertaining.

And I have a question...do you think Polamalu really hurt his ankle or is it just something to give the Hawks false hope?? We are having a debate on this here at work and I am curious of others opinions.
