Anybody see anything lately in regard to Cleveland's predatory lending ordinance, easing it up or making any changes? I got a query on it and can't seem to find anything but want to be sure I've followed all available leads. TIA!

There is currently a lawsuit filed by the American Financial Services Association against the City, seeking to invalidate the law. You can access the docket at the following link:

http://cpdocket.cuyahoga.oh.us/cjisjs/servlet/cjis.urd/run/CMSW104

The local Clev paper evidently reported that the City is trying to work something out to settle the lawsuit, but nothing so far.

The trade group that filed suit against the Cleveland Ordinance is limiting its suit to only the following sections of the Cleveland Ordinance:

ยง 659.01 THROUGH 659.04 AND 178.01 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF CLEVELAND BOTH AS ENACTED BY ORDINANCE NO.737-02, PASSED 04/22/02 AND ORDINANCE NO.45-03, PASSED EFFECTIVE JANUARY 15, 2003.

You can view the docket at:

http://cpdocket.cuyahoga.oh.us/cjisjs/servlet/cjis.urd/run/CMSW104

(You can also search under the case number 02-CV-467409)

If anyone can advise how to get a copy of Cleveland Ordinance #45-03, I'd greatly appreciate it.
