We are having issues getting our HMDA data to the FRB. We have sent twice via US Mail and once UPS on a diskette but have been notified each time that the data was "rendered unreadable during the mailing and/or security screening process." These have all been new disks and the processed worked fine on our CRA data. Our data is on a stand alone without internet access so the internet route is not an option.

Anyone else having these issues - any suggestions?

The best suggestion is to use the FFIEC HMDA software and email an encrypted file.

How do I encrypt it - I don't have access to the internet on this PC in order to download the encryption program. Please advise. Thanks.

Create your disk just like you have. Then put that disk into a computer that does have internet access (surely someone in the bank has internet access, otherwise, how would you be posting here). Download the FFIEC software onto that computer, import the data from your disk, create the encrypted file and e-mail it to the FRB submission e-mail address.

Be aware that all mail sent to a government office is screened and they are probably x-raying the package and a bunch of other security processes which is rendering the diskette unreadable.

Another question ...is your network administrator dictating whether you can download from the Internet? If so, you may need to get temporary access.

Just a thought ...
