At approximately 2:30 today a wild turkey ruthlessly attacked our bank building. Employees reported hearing a loud BANG! coming from a second floor window... only to see cracked glass and feathers on the impact site - and a GI-NORMOUS turkey dead on the sidewalk.

Bank: 1
Turkey: 0

Yes this actually happened - I have a picture of it on my cellphone, and the bank called the Herald Newspaper.

wow!! that's really funny.
we had a bird fly into the drive thru glass the other morning, but i don't think it was nearly as entertaining as the turkey incident.

Between this and the skunk incident, you should have your own show on Animal Planet.

Yep - time for you to change animals Skunk Boy. I may have to take that name; I have a skunk or skunks somewhere under my shed and the smell gets stronger every day. i assume they will come out of full hibernation soon and hopefully leave, but I have to walk my dog at noght now.

CubDave, put moth balls around your shed. That should help. (and if they built a nest, they WILL comeback - I know too much about those little bastards)

Poor Gobbles.

In other breaking news, MGM Pictures announces the imminent release of WKRP in Cincinnati, The Movie in which Les Nessman, Herb Tarlek, Johnny Fever, and all the gang at the station are forced by the FCC to relocate to Chicago.

As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.

Wild turkeys can fly, but these were domestic butterballs. Drop like a lead balloon.

I didn't think a turkey could fly either, until today.

Looks like I'm still half right.

I live out in the country and have anywhere from 20 up to 75 (we've counted!) wild turkeys come through our place nearly everyday. Believe me they can fly a long way when you startle them.

I bet they wouldn’t fly very well if you startled them with a shotgun!

i know a guy who had a pet raccoon. the raccoon would sit (like a human) on the couch and watch tv and eat oreos. it was quite a sight!!!
you'd be surprised what creatures people have as pets.
