Gas prices around the world

prices updated as of May, 2004.

I couldn't find an update that gave prices any more recent than May 2005...but the 2005 update told the same story.

I think that our anon tree hugger has inspired me to now buy a 1 ton diesel instead of the 3/4 ton I am currently shopping for. No mpg ratings or emissions requirements at all.

now that i haveebeen mocked and rideculed by you i now have to defnd certain assertoins and issues i so aptly riased. i don't know about the EU economies but the eu is very young so give its ecominies time to reroot and grow after all germany had to absorb awholenother counnry. the US ecomony is not as strong as everyon thinks. sure the dow is backup and inyterwst rates ok and unemployment fair low historically but these things alone do not a strong econmy make. you have to look at other factors too to judge the health of an econmy. things like opportnities or lack of for women in upper eshilon managment, too many copamnies like walmort not paying adequate healthcare and no living wagew, the decline of workers protected by collective bargining laber agrements, big layoffs by megacorps as they take hipaying jobs oversees with no regard whatsever for our hard working worker ethic here. and the lousy record of our megacorps in protecing uor air and water qualty for future generattions protecing only the politialy advantagd with no regard gfor the next geerations. in this contex our counries econmy does not look so hot as everyone thinks. people need to think openly & expand their myoppic view of econmics and ralize things are not so great as its econmies are all abuot opportunitites not just numbers

This is a spoof, right? I mean, I assumed that about the first post, so I didn't say anything. But no one who actually uses a computer could really type this poorly, could they?

I never engage in the political threads, but I have to ask, doesn't anyone think that GWB blind trust or Cheney has anything to do with these prices? I'm not smitten with either party, I think both have alot of problems, I for one wish every politician had to fund for their own retirement and health insurance, then all of us small folks might get someone to fight for us, but Bush and Cheney had alot invested in oil.

Yes, and now they have a lot invested in political fortunes. High gas prices are doing a lot of damage to the new investment.

How many places have showers for users who would like to ride their bicycles in? Mine doesn't.

Not only would the gas savings help, but the extra calories burned would help the 'bottom' line as well.

We should be hitting $3 within the week. Hopefully this is pushing those alternative fuels into fast foward!

I watched "Enron: The Smartest guys in the Room" over the weekend.

Like Ms McLean, the Business Week journo who asked the simple question "So how do you make money?" - the question that eventually brought down the house of cards - we also need to ask ourselves a simple question re the gas price: "So, why do we keep buying?"

I read an Analyst saying that if Americans cut back 3% of consumption, gas price will be back below $1.50.

So why don't we?

I'll tell you why, because we are a bunch of veil calves that drive to the neighbors houses!

The gas pimps know us pretty well - we are crack whores beyond the point of return now.

$2.85 yesterday. I'm now seriously considering buying one of those little motor scooters along with my new truck. I live close enough to work that the scooter would be fine for that daily commute (in nice weather, of course), and then I could save the truck mileage for my other one.

How long would it take to recapture the cost of the scooter?

Depends on how good a deal I can find. Can I also count it's value as a "run around" at horse shows?
