I just want to share something that I recently had considerable success with-
To keep the training 'fresh and interesting' as well as effective, I made up several CTRs and monetary instrument logs which included a number of common branch errors. I distributed them to our branches with a 'Find # Errors' heading on each one. (The Branch Managers were given the answer keys.)
Well, the feedback has been fantastic- this approach prompted some good discussion among the branch staff, as well as some good thinking. And the best part is- errors are down!

Thanks - I think keeping training "fresh" on some of these topics is the biggest challenge.

Good idea! A year or so ago, we had a lot of new folks going through training so I made up about 10 different situations - some required a CTR filing, some a log entry, some nothing, and distributed them. The employees were asked to analyze the situation, tell me what was required and then do it - complete the CTR, log, etc. If the completed a CTR or log entry and it was incorrect they had to do it again. I had a lot of great feedback, especially from those new tellers who wanted to do it right, but had not had much practice.

Opinions are mine and mine alone.

Jac,
That's great, our front line has been trained at least a dozen times in 12 months,
maybe this will hit it home! Thanks for the tip.

I have also used this approach with Reg CC hold forms. It has been very helpful. I didn't make them up though. I used the real thing. It had a terrific impact. Forms are much neater now. (No one wants to be embarrassed in training!) I did make sure I took them all back up at the end of the class so they could be properly destroyed.
