Yay, frivolity! OK, this isn't a joke or a frivolous question but I've been wanting to ask if the anonymous poster who revealed back in December that she was pregnant has now told her boss and if she will also tell us who she really is! Because I could use someone to trade tips/info with......

Little umbrella drinks to those who know what a "tittle" is and an "octothorpe". While these are not banking related terms, likely you use them every day.

It wasn't me! But I do have a 20 month old-- the whole pregnancy/birth experience is fresh in my mind. My sister is also preggers right now. I'd be happy to share any info I have. Ask away. croak44@hotmail.com

Oh, Oh, Oh - I am so excited! I have the answers!
Tittle - the dot over an "i" or a tiny part, iota.
Octothorpe - the "#" symbol
God bless the "Launchpad"!

For the Golfers out there;
A birdie is one under par. An eagle is two under par. A seagull is a really bad slice at Pebble Beach.
Hold a sea shell to your ear and you’ll hear the ocean. Hold a golf ball to your ear and you’ll hear an excuse.

The year is 1902 , one hundred years ago... what a difference a century makes. Here are some U.S. statistics for 1902....
The average life expectancy in the US was forty-seven.
Only 14 Percent of the homes in the US had a bathtub.
Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.
A three-minute call from Denver to New York City cost eleven dollars.
There were only 8,000 cars in the US and only 144 miles of paved roads.
The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.
Alabama, Mississippi, Iowa, and Tennessee were each more heavily populated than California. With a mere 1.4 million residents, California was only the 21st most populous state in the Union.
The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower.
The average wage in the US was 22 cents an hour.
The average US worker made approximately $450 per year.
A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year, a dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.
More than 95 percent of all births in the US took place at home.
Ninety percent of all US physicians had no college education. Instead, they attended medical schools, many of which were condemned in the press and by the government as "substandard."
Sugar cost four cents a pound. Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen. Coffee cost fifteen cents a pound.
Most women only washed their hair once a month and used borax or egg yolks for shampoo.
Canada passed a law prohibiting poor people from entering the country for any reason.
The five leading causes of death in the US were: 1. Pneumonia and influenza 2. Tuberculosis 3. Diarrhea 4. Heart disease 5. Stroke
The American flag had 45 stars. Arizona, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska hadn't been admitted to the Union yet.
The population of Las Vegas, Nevada was 30.
Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and iced tea hadn't been invented.
There were no Mother's Day or Father's Day.
One in ten US adults couldn't read or write. Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school.
Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at corner drugstores. According to one pharmacist, "Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and the bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health."
Eighteen percent of households in the US had at least one full-time servant or domestic.
Just about everyone carried guns an there were only about 230 reported murders in the entire US.
Just think what it will be like in another 100 years. It boggles the mind!!

I purchased those books at Cracker Barrell that listed the costs of different items and different facts for specific years. I bought them for my parents and aunt and uncle for 1919, 1920, 1921, and 1925. Some things were amazing.

In ancient Rome, currency was devalued by making the actual size of the currency smaller. I learned this while in the city of Trier, Germany. The Romans built a wall (around?) the city and part of it still stands. Our guide produced two coins, one was about the size of our quarter and had a head on it, much like our currency. Then he explained how they would devalue the currency by making it smaller. He produced another coin- about the size of the little paper dots you get when you use a hole puncher!

No kidding. Those little ones werent much to look at, but the bigger coin was, especially since it had markings on it. That city was pretty cool. Karl Marx was born there, so we went to the house he lived in. The was a big cathedral there, too. There was this huge building there as well, which our guide told us served as a throne room for Emporer Constantine whenever he was in Trier. You have to actually be there to appreciate it's size, but the building was basically one huge room, like a basketball gym. The thing is, there was a door at one end, and Constantine would sit all the way at the other. Not a big deal, but it was death if you turned your back on the emporer. So that meant you walked all that way into the room facing him (of course), but when you left, you had to back out of the room, still facing him. A pretty humbling experience, indeed!
