Unfortunately, this article is written in extremists view and seems quite the fearmongering tactic.

I don't think it was apt or necessary to call the opposition "fear mongering extremists" but that is your call.

These two statements do NOT mean the same thing so what are you arguing about?! Stay on point...that being whether or not global warming exists...and recognize that, as with many other topics, there exists an element that does want to strike fear into the general public to get that public to react, hopefully in support of their position.

Happy, sorry your thread got high-jacked. Really sorry to hear about all the rain your area is going to get. The only hope is that it'll drown some of the mosquitos that seem to be your next big problem down there. Prayers to you all.

i was at the park Monday playing with my son, and the tornado sirens went off for a tornado 75 miles away. Talk about causing unnecessary panic for park parents. not me of course, as I could tell no tornado was near and i understand the penchant for the warning to blow everytime somebody gets a whirlpool in their bathtub.

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
Sorry, TR, mosquitos don't drown! Puddles mean MORE of those pesky critters!

We're supposed to get the storm system moving into our area this afternoon, but at present it's cloudy with sunshine coming out every now and again.

I know exactly what you mean! My kids were freaking out because the siren went off for a tornado nowhere near us. --Silver Lining-- My 12 year old is much more interested in geography.

Texboy - come on now, we've had a minor disagreement or two over some of your responses, but the thought of not liking you never crossed my mind...after all, I'm a Texas boy myself from way back when, Cowtown native.

I didn't know it was when the alarm went off but I turned on the radio and found out. I knew it wasn't close because there were no clouds.

Whoever sent that rain, thank you! While it looks like it will only be for about 5 minutes, every little bit helps!

I love it too! That's how it is here right now, minus the power going out. Thankfully I have a battery backup so I can stay on BOL even if the power goes out.

we had a tornado about a month ago rip through here and head to missouri. it was about 1/4 mile from my apartment.. pretty scary... and I grew up with tornados. The wind caused a lot of damage and are yards were just full of big hail, it looked like it had snowed golf balls. Luckily only a few houses were damaged and I don't believe anyone was killed.

I like that to. I guess I am a weirdo!

It hasn't rained or thundered in so long, I forget what that feeling is like!

I don't like it.. unless I can cuddle with someone.

It scares me when huge thunder claps down ... not scared of the lights going out... but just not a big fan of thunder.

When I was in college... a big storm came through and ripped the roof off our units and my friend's ceiling caved in.. talk about shock... we had an unwanted skylight. Imagine... midnight... rain pouring in your apartment...
