We've had a customer suggest the bank could provide (anually or bi-annually) on-site shred service as a public service (we currently have our shred company come on site and shred, so they are here regularly) - anyone doing this - anything we need to think about besides this being a 'good' thing to provide?
Thanks

I haven't seen other banks offering this, but it sounds like a good idea. It seems that annually or semi-annually is too infrequent though.

There was a post recently about a bank that does this annually.

I just thought that the subject line for this Thread was too good not to comment! I had fears of wishful thinking!

In this article from the ICBA on page 2, it mentions that a Kentucky bank held a shred day and allowed customers to bring in up to 50 pounds of papers to be shred.

I have done shredding days for 3 years now - stole the idea from a bank in Texas. I now do it three times a year, and the popularity keeps growing. Our first one this year was a few weeks ago. Had 475 people come thru over a 2 1/2 hour period, and shredded about 10,800 pounds of paper. I do have them sign a disclaimer, and in all my promotion of it, we limit it to 25lbs per person, although many try to abuse that. I send out press releases, advertise it, and also put out bags with handles in branches with the information regarding dates and locations imprinted on those bags.

CD - Thanks for the response - I'm curious as to one aspect of your Shred Program - do you do this at one banking center, or multiple centers.

PS - How 'bout them Cards???

Tex - we have one headquarter location and 6 branches, albeit that most are within a 5 mile circular radius.

The first year I did it just at headquarter location. Last year I rotated amond two locations.

This year, I am doing three events, each at a different branch location.

I don't think you're supposed to shred those - just cut them up really well with a scissors!
