We're looking at incorporating length of service rewards for our employees. Do you have any ideas on what to give as rewards for 5-years with the bank, 10-years with the bank, etc.?

Any laws or regulations I need to research before incorporating such a program? We have one branch in SD, 28 employees and average 20 years of employment per employee at the present time.

We have an annual awards dinner in November where all employees with 5 or more years of service are invited as well as retirees. Those employees celebrating a 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, etc. anniversary or retiring that year are presented with awards at the dinner.

For 5 years of service, the employee is given a pen and pencil set with his/her name engraved on them.

For 10 years, women get a gold charm bracelet with a charm that says 10 years and the men get a gold tie tack.

For 15 years, the employee gets a watch.

For 20 years, I think our HR area gives some choice to the employee. I've seen some employees get a gold necklace and others a digital camera.

I'm not sure about the awards for other anniversaries or for retirees.

We have 5-year interval awards and the employee gets to go to a local jewelry/gift store and is told a specific dollar amount they have dependent upon length of service. EX. For 5 years service, you can pick out anything you want up to $125.00.

We do ours in 5-year increments. They are given out at the annual "Holiday" party and start out with a 5 year gold pin of our logo with one tiny diamond. (It really is quite nice actually) Each 5th year they add another diamond. After 30 years they start adding gifts as well.

I guess that doesn't seem like much but they already give us annual "holiday" bonuses that start around $650 for new part-time tellers and are guarantee by tenure and full/part time status to all non-officers.
Officer's bonuses are based on performance and are a little better.

And, they give us the bonus in the beginning of November so we can actually USE it for holiday shopping!

Yeah, we have a little longevity here.

Ours are in 5-year increments with a gift check. 5 years $50.00 10 years $100.00 15 years $150.00 and so on. These are given on the employee's anniversary date. The employee also gets an appreciation certificate that is signed by the president.

We do 5 year increments also. We give lapel pins. The 5 year pin has the #5 on it and no stones. 10 yrs has an emerald, 15 has ruby, 20 has aquamarine, 25 has 1 diamond, 30 has 2 diamonds, 35 has 3 diamonds, & 40 has 4 diamonds. Our President gives our pins at our annual employee fish fry in August. We will give a 40 year pin next month. If she stays another 5 years, we'll have to come up with something else. At a previous bank where I worked until 1995, they gave savings bonds. You got $50 for 5 yrs, $100 for 10 yrs, etc. That was nice but savings bonds have changed a lot since then.
