All over the map.
A post in the couch thread made me wonder about different blood types. What is yours, and would you ever consider donating bone marrow?

My blood type is B-, and I would donate.

Mine's O+, I just got up the courage to donate blood last year. I don't know about marrow. I'd like to think I would!

I have donated blood in the past; unfortunately, I came down with a mild case of hepititus and cannot donate any more. If the hepititus would not exclude me from donating bone marrow, I definately would. It could save a life.

B+, I've been a blood donor for about 20 years. Last December I donated platelets for the first time, and have donated a few times since then. I would donate bone marrow if asked.

O+ I give blood every year. Although my last experience was a bad one, so its kind of shaken my thoughts about giving it again.

Okay...I'm gonna sign up, but first I want to make sure that none of our BOL kiddos need the marrow. It looks like when you sign up you agree to donate for anyone, which is fine, but the I want the BOL family to check first.

I used to give blood, but now they suspect that I have mad cow disease and won't take it anymore....

O positive. I don't know if they would take my marrow. I came up with two false positive tests for Hep C, and they won't take my blood donations anymore.

I know there were two tests, because I was told, when you test bad the first time, they just destroy the blood. But they note it on your records. Then, if it comes up a second time, they send you a letter. When I got the letter, I RAN to my physician for tests. He said (after his tests and $200 later) that I don't have Hep C, and that the blood bank's tests often come up with false positives. They have to use a cost effective test, which is not always accurate.

Too bad for them, because I am a willing donor. They did say, when they got a more accurate test, they would contact me, but it has been over 10 years.

A+, and I am listed as an organ donor, provided they are still usable when I pass...

Used to donate blood, but one of my medications makes it appear that I'm anemic (I'm not) and the Red Cross won't take my blood anymore. I'm going to have to do some thinking about marrow. I'm not in great shape myself, so they might not even want it.

I think I am O and I have tried to give blood but they won't take it because I am a bit anemic so they tell me. I am taking vitamins now so maybe all is good. Anyhow of course I would be a marrow donor and I am signed to be an organ donor also. Why not, indeed! ^patrice^

What purpose did that serve? She hasn't said a damn thing out of line and you have to pull that [censored] in a thread?
