Just when you think you've send every STUPID thing in the world, something comes along that tops the last. Looking at a corporate resolution for a restaurant, it was marked "not for profit corporation." Well I thought that was pretty bad, but thought it might have just been one of those things that was not intentionally done, UNTIL I looked at the signature card and it too was marked, NOT FOR PROFIT!!! Sometimes it's all I can do to refrain from storming through the lobby and shaking people ! You'd think that even non-bankers could get that one right!

Many start up resturants I've seen are less then non-profit.

Can you tell I was a lender.

LOL Andy, my thoughts exactly. I was thinking...well at least the lender was honest in his/her assessment of the business

This was NOT a lender that did this. It was a CSR. But I do agree that lenders usually are excused of mistakes much more readily than a CST.

There is a very nice (in season) outdoor restaurant on Park Avenue in NYC run by a church. In fact, it is at the church. The "profits" go for the church's program for aid to the homeless. Just thought I would mention it. Great food!

A non-profit restaurant is possible. "Profits" can be tagged for charity. You need documents to indicate the non-profit legal status.
