I read this on Yahoo news.

ZURICH, Switzerland - An 85-year-old woman was found in the vault of a Swiss bank when she set off motion detectors hours after the bank was already closed.

The director of the bank's safe allowed the woman into the vault on Monday before closing it at 4:30 p.m.

She remained so still that she initially failed to activate either the motion detector or the attached camera. She was freed from the room four hours after the vault was closed. She was given a bouquet of flowers and the bank will decide on other nonfinancial compensation.

I saw that too! OMG, she was so still that camera or motion detector didn't engage. It doesn't say "how" anyone was alerted that she was still in there. I wonder did she have a cell phone and called home??? According to the times listed it would have been after 8:30pm before she was released? hmmmm. I'm thankful we do not have SDB in my branch.

I'm surprised that the Swiss, so famous for adherence to rules and procedures, would permit this woman to be left unattended in their vault.

But how European to give her a bouquet of flowers. What bank in the US would think of that right off the bat?

When I was locked in the loan vault a couple of years ago I received no flowers and no nonfinancial compensation. To be honest, being left out was compensation enough!

I inadvertently locked one of my tellers in the vault, after setting the time locks. Fortunately, we were able to crack her out within a matter of minutes (but no flowers were given). Unfortunately, she left the bank a month later. Unrelated, of course.
