I have read the comments in the 10-11 and 10-23 threads and noted the FDIC was supposed to send out the Control list. Apparently some of you have received this list. However, we are still waiting for our copy.

Our regional has not yet responded to a request for info. Is anyone else still waiting for the list from the FDIC? If so, does anyone know the reason for the slowness?

I just talked to FDIC and confirmed that the Joint Agency Request of October 5th was not intended to apply to FDIC regulated banks. FDIC contacted each bank by phone and confirmed an e-mail address, typically of the CEO.

Last week, they sent out a test e-mail, but many banks were unable to open the message. They are (or did yesterday) re-send the e-mail.

Al,

If the request was never intended for FDIC shops, then why are they testing the E-mail? We received a letter from the FDIC in DC notifying us of the impending request. Did your contact state that the FDIC was not participating in this effort?

Thanks!

Doug,

We also received the FDIC notice and received a test e-mail to the President/CEO on 10-18-01 with instructions to reply to the e-mail. A second e-mail was received on 10-24-01 by the President/CEO with instructions on how to change the contact person if need be. We changed the contact to the Compliance Officer. As of today, we still have not received the control list. All I know to do is continue to wait.

We're regulated by the OTS and have also not received any "contact list". I called them earlier this week and what I found out is that they are trying to determine the best way to deliver the list - via e-mail (they have security concerns) or via a secured website (they have to develop). I was told to hang on until next week and by they should know what they are going to do.

Sounds like the FDIC may be going through the same thing.

On a slightly different subject, I haven't figured why we're all waiting around for this list. From what I've heard on this site from those who've received it, sounds like we should be gratefull we don't have it yet and learn from the experiences of those who have.

I suppose your right MD, but I have this feeling that I'll be knee deep in something when the FDIC finally asks me to dance. So much for schedules, huh?

Do you check your institution only for control list hits or every sub and affiliate as well?

Steve

We check all associate companies, all subsidiaries and recomend that our third party suppliers check OFAC as well. We'd like to check third party suppliers for the control list as well but are of course restricted from doing so.
