• You know that it's called Great Adventure, not Six Flags.
• A good, quick breakfast is a hard roll with butter.
• You've known the way to Seaside Heights since you were seven.
• You've eaten at a diner, when you were stoned or drunk, at 3 A.M.

• At least three people in your family still love Bruce Springsteen, and you know the town Jon Bon Jovi is from.
• You know what a "jug handle" is.
• You know that WaWa is a convenience store.
• You know that the state isn't all farmland.
• You know that there are no "beaches" in New Jersey--there's the shore--and you don't go "to the shore," you go "down the shore." And when you are there, you're not "at the shore"; you are "down the shore."
• You know how to properly negotiate a circle.
• You knew that the last sentence had to do with driving.
• You know that this is the only "New" state that doesn't require "New" to identify it (try . . . Mexico . . . York . . . Hampshire-- doesn't work, does it?).
• You know that a "White Castle" is the name of BOTH a fast food chain AND a fast food sandwich.
• You don't think "What exit?" is very funny.

• Every year you have at least one kid in your class named Tony.
• You know the location of every clip shown in the Sopranos opening credits.
• You've gotten on the wrong highway trying to get out of the mall.
• You know that people from North Jersey go to Seaside Heights, and people from Central Jersey go to Belmar, and people from South Jersey go to Wildwood. It can be no other way.
• You weren't raised in New Jersey--you were raised in North Jersey, Central Jersey or South Jersey.
• You don't consider Newark or Camden to actually be part of the state.
• You remember the stores Korvette's, Two Guys, Rickel's, Channel, Bamberger's and Orbach's.
• You also remember Palisades Amusement Park.
• You've had a boardwalk cheese steak and vinegar fries.
• You start planning for Memorial Day weekend in February.
And finally . . .
• You've NEVER, EVER, pumped your own gas.

Palisades Park: WOW, what a flashback! That was THE best amusement park ever.

(And, my parents met and fell in love there...)

Thanks, Steve, you reminded me of all of the reasons I want to stay in Joisey.

Spending the summers in Wildwood - something we looked forward to all winter long in Parochial school in Philly! My mom would take us down, and dad would come down on the weekends and for a week or two in August! The Starlight Ballroom! Good Times!!!

Sheetz does not come close to WaWa!!! WaWa Rocks!!!

I understand that the President of WaWa (D1ck Wood, and yes that is his real name, just look on any WaWa coffee cup) is about to retire and move to Florida. With any luck he will realize that all the convenience stores down here are terrible, and that we need a few WaWa's.

but as sheetz fans chew on the rubber-ized stuff they call bread and the mystery meat they claim is "bacon", they will tell you with a straight face that sheetz is the best.

pride is a tough pill to swallow...

Yes, it is! Serving hot dogs to another generation of Clifton High School and Passaic High School kids.

Convenience stores of magnitudes which you may never see. Wawa started in Jersey and Sheetz started in PA. both of them are now in multiple states: not sure about Wawa, but Sheetz is in PA, MD, WV, and VA. I know Wawa is in PA and NJ and DE and I think MD (or am I wrong), but I have to agree with Ron Wawa puts the Sheetz brothers to shame (and I'm from PA).

That's not so bad. Heard on the radio there is someplace in the south that is deep frying coca-cola. They have a coke flavored batter, fry it. Dump Coke syrup (like the kind you get at those old soda shops) on it and then add cinnamon and whip cream.

I don't know why I'm shocked about the hot dogs...we have everything else deep fat fried.

Including, the disgusting but every popular deep fried candy bar. The preferred bar is Snickers in these parts...

OK, so I take it these are either local chains of eateries or convenience stores that serve food. Like White Castle, Krystal's, Waffle House or 7-11, White Hen Pantries, Circle K...?
