"diamonds are a girl's best friend... square shaped or pear shaped these gems don't lose their shape!"

You know, I have to love Marilyn Monroe, if only for those lines!

Jewelry - Shmewlry; whatever happend to some good old fashioned lovin' and affection - a backrub, a big hug, some leisurely non-distracting time in the boudoir without TV, dogs, kids, or phones. Forget valentine's day - there should be a national holiday called "Happy No Distractions/Obligations" day!

Oh, lasvegas, we'll take all of that, too!

I agree about the holidays, though, and I think
that it is all a Hallmark conspiracy...
I just found out about "Grandparent's Day", I was like, what???
Then I found out they weren't kidding.

You'll be happy to know (well maybe just I will be happy to know) that the wife just called after discovering the flowers and I could see her grin over the phone. She said I may even get an extra present late night - so to all you ladies who collaberatively convinced me to do the right thing, I thank you profusely.

Wait a sec...roses that need to be dethorned, sold out of the back of a van...hmmm...I'd say a SAR might be in order for the salesman. Wonder if there are any angry old ladies with freshly pruned rosebushes in your town... (Just kidding)

I am in agreement with you, Moose. Did not mean to offend or boast, actually. Just an apparent bad attempt at humor.

Between the lines
Just back from lunch. Hubby and I went on a cruise a couple of years ago (big anniversary) and we brought back a print, unframed. At lunch I presented him with the framed print--he was so happy about it and it made me smile.

He bought me a couple bottles of my favorite wine which also made me happy. Of course, he gets to share the wine, but then, I am sharing the print since it goes in the family room. Happy V-Day everyone.

OK, how about this one. My fiance just sent me a dozen roses. Two red, two yellow, two peach, two coral two white, one light pink and one hot pink. Does this mean he's confused? Actually, they're absolutely gorgeous! I found a winner this time.

I did not know that about orange roses - I just thought they looked kinda nice. Plus, it is one of the colors of the beloved Chicago Bears.

It does, doesn't it. Of course he loved the cookie bouquet, too.

I would stick with the "fascination" and not mention the Bears.

Sports affiliations. I see the hidden logic in that. And the Cowboys are silver and blue. Blue, after this last season that makes sense. I need one of those Sam's Pack of 25 blue flowers.

Not at all, I was just kidding about the TMI. What I'd really say about it is, "go for it dude!"

Big Blue is a great color. (At least from November through March.)

Let's not forget Cubbie blue - it may mean death in baseball, but I love my Cubs more than most things in life.

Alright! Another Cubs fan out there! Maybe Dusty Baker will be the manager to finally bring them out of the bottom half of their division and to the playoffs. Sammy can't do it by himself . . .

The Cubs have been my life since I was 7 years old and endured the 1969 collapse (although in actuality it was more a matter of the Mets playing out of their mind). I am excited about Dusty as well, but curiously, I am not a big Sammy fan.

Count me in as a Cub fan. Lived in Chicago for my Jr. and Sr. years of high school. Oops, not logged in--this is zaibatsu--and I am signing off. Bye. See you guys Tuesday. You are closed Monday, right?

We went on a baseball trip last summer. Drove to Chicago (and in case you're wondering, yes - it is a llloooonnnngggg way from Lubbock, Texas to Chicago) - and went to Comisky (sp?) park, and Wrigley Field. It was awesome!! I can't describe how much baseball history just oozes out of the walls of that place. We also stopped at Busch Stadium to see the Cardinals play.
