One use of "holta" is when you are going to get in touch with someone later. It might be better as "aholta." Example:
"I'll get a holta you later to discuss this."

I think holta is "hold of" as in "get a holta yourself". I heard that from someone from Adlanna. That's in Georgia, isn't it?

I cringed every time he said nucular (vs. nuclear) during his State of the Union address. You would think all those brainiacs around him in D.C. would let him know the correct pronunciation.

Dawnie, this happens to me all the time - look down at your keyboard and be sure that your left index finger is on the "F" key and your right index finger is on the "J" key. That will solve your problem!

I am amazed at the number of persons who have trouble with "milk." I used to do the same thing until my wife corrected me one time too many. I started concentrating when I used the word and it worked. Now I only stumble when I've had too much wine.

John -I have also been shamed into saying it properly, but it saddens me. I equate "melk" with morning after morning as a kid, making my own breakfast because my mom was still sleeping, and having either Cap'n Crunch with Crunchberries, Quisp, Trix, or Corn Pops with some good old cold m-e-l-k.

I see what you mean, but I've got to admit that I was disappointed to see a distinguished man like Nelson Mandela make fun of Bush's speech in his comments about Iraq. I thought it terribly undignified. I expected better from him. Guess I need to do a little more research on the man. His comments made me realize that I really don't know that much about Mandela.

When I was in first grade, just learning how to write, my West Texas grandmother tried to dictate her shopping list to me. She kept saying Lat Bubs, and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to spell that. (I know, I know, T-H-A-T )

I'm goin' toda libary to look up the pronounciation of "Wensday" in the dictionery.
Him and me went to the movies.
If you have any questions, call Kim or myself.
Using "they" as a singular pronoun to avoid "he or she."
Who's and whose; it's and its; their, they're and there.
Gadzooks! I'm having a grammar and usage attack!

We all go "down the shore" here in New Jersey. All you folks that go "to the beach" have got it a bit backwards.
We also say we are from "Jersey". Have you ever met anyone from "Hampshire", "York" or "Mexico" who was referring to the state?

I've got to cop to that one. But, geez, what's a girl to do? If you use "he", you're thought of as sexist. If you use "she", you're believed to be weird. If you use "he or she" every time you're referring to nameless, faceless individual, you wear yourself out.
Please give me an alternative I can live with, John.

Lots of people think you're from Mexico if you're from New Mexico. We New Mexicans get a little riled up about that, though. There's a column in New Mexico magazine every month titled, "One of our 50 is Missing". My own personal story involved flying from Roswell, New Mexico to Atlanta. My luggage didn't make the connection in Dallas, so I had to go to the Delta luggage office. After inspecting my itinerary, the agent wanted to know if I'd seen my luggage as I came through Customs. I told him I was just sure that Atlanta was still in the United States.
