For community banks (i.e. we have 10 branches located in a rather low risk area) how many MSB's do you have? We had one obvious but they left as they didn't want to give the MSB document. We checked the two convenience stores - no checks that would qualify. Now, we have a truck stop and now I am hearing that they are MSBs as they cash checks for the drivers - but i didn't see any checks over $1,000...so I can't really say I have any MSBs at present...but I am interested in knowing if any other similar sized bank has the same situation?

Small community bank (two branches) in low risk, suburban area of major city. We currently have three MSB's.

We have 12 branches in a low-risk, rural area. We have open accounts with two MSB's. We've also closed two: one for failing to register and one because we did not have enough resources to monitor their activity.

Small community bank which has 2 branches, in elevated risk areas. We had 2 and closed them both down for similar reasons to Kelsey's post.

We are a $360 million dollar bank, with 9 branches and we have 15 MSB accounts.

PStalfort! Wow! What kind of MSBs are they? Check cashing? Convenience stores? Currency exchange houses?

Most of the community banks in our company, with the exception of PStalfort's bank, have only a handful of MSBs that are required to register with FinCEN. They generally have a number of other small mom-and-pop type customers that are MSBs that do not have to register (generally convenience stores and grocers).

2.7B, and we have 92 MSB relationships... aren't we the lucky ones! This counts mom & pops, check cashers, etc.

I should have said 15 registered MSBs. They are mostly check cashers/convenience stores/liquor stores.

So, for the convenience stores and liquor stores, you checked their checking account transactions and found checks/trans. for $1000. for one person and therefore they fell into the MSB bucket?

We have also found that furniture stores frequently provide check cashing services as well. We generally identify activity qualifying MSB registration through review of deposited items for existing customers.

Small (<$30M) community bank. Largely ag. No branches. We have ZERO MSB's.

We are a community bank with a little over a billion in assets. We have 163 registered MSBs and 246 convenience stores, liquor stores and food marts that are not registered MSBs (or at least that is what they have stated and so far I have not identified any others by transactions).
Please dont even suggest furniture stores since we have probably have between 30 - 50 of those and there is no way we have time to monitor any others.
