Female customer presents marriage license and wishes to change her name on her accounts but her social security card has not been changed to the new name. Is it ok to go ahead and change her name with the marriage license only? Anyone have a definitive answer?

She may have changed her name with the Social Security Administration and not received her new card yet. If that's the case, you should go ahead. But if she has not yet changed her name with SSA, I'd recommend going to a compromise position -- in the form SALLY MAIDEN MARRIED with her entire former name included. That will prevent any name/TIN mismatch problems.

If the account isn't interest-bearing, you can change the name without worrying about what's on file with SSA.
