Wherever the plane lands
Republican or Democrat

A young teenage girl was about to finish her first year of college. She

considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat but her father was a

rather staunch Republican.

One day she was challenging her father on his beliefs and his

opposition to taxes and welfare programs. He stopped her and asked her

how she was doing in school.

She answered that she had a 4.0 GPA but it was really tough. She had to

study all the time, never had time to go out and party. She didn't have

time for a boyfriend and didn't really have many college friends

because of spending all her time studying.

He asked, "How is your friend Mary." She replied that Mary was barely

getting by. She had a 2.0 GPA, never studied, but was very popular on

campus, went to all the parties all the time. Why she often didn't show

up for classes because she was hung over.

Dad then asked his daughter why she didn't go to the Dean's office and

ask why she couldn't take 1.0 off her 4.0 and give it to her friend who

only had a 2.0. That way they would both have a 3.0 GPA.

The daughter angrily fired back, "That wouldn't be fair, I worked

really hard for mine and Mary has done nothing".

The father slowly smiled and said, "Welcome to the Republican Party".

Thanks, Bimmer.

And this is the basic difference between the two parties!

Exactly Fraudman! I figured I would present an idiot proof analogy for all of the mental midgets out there.

I don't know about idiot proof Bimmer...my guess is you will still get flamed by someone when they read it. I love it though! I don't really like to think of myself as either, I am not overly political, but find myself voting R most of the time anyway.

That's funny, Bimmer. I heard a good one the other day too:

What's the difference between a Democrat and a Republican?
A Democrat will take you out to the finest restaurant, buy you beautiful flowers and give you gifts and chocolates and will then screw you and walk away. A Republican screws you and walks away. Politicians!

But my favorite is that a Conservative is a Liberal that's been mugged!

I just sent this to my dad too. I know he will get such a great laugh out of it! He actually explained the difference between Republicans and Democrats to me at a young age using a similar analogy, except, instead of college, it was success in a lemonade stand. Thanks for letting me reminisce.

Actually, the analogy that seems more accurate to me would be:

Dad: Have you offered to help your friend Mary with her study habits, or offered to study with her?
Daughter: Well, no, if Mary wants better grades, she should just pick herself up by her own bootstraps and earn them herself!
Dad: Welcome to the Republican Party.

Or in my case, a Liberal is a Conservative who's seen the Republican party abandon intellectual thought to become authoritarians dictating to sheep who follow without question.

True, but it's not as funny as the other one!

I don't know Jokerman. It's a joke. You know, ha-ha and all that? Maybe he had a really successful lemonade stand when he was younger.

Ah, you can't recognize my jokes, which leads you to conclude that I can't recognize jokes.

Ha-ha, and all that.
