Cindy was arrested Wednesday for pitching a bunch of anti-war petitions over the White House fence. She said it was taking too long (15 min) for them to decide if they wanted to accept them or not.

i think we are on the same page. we just need responsibility in spending. it's like the same thing with immigration laws: just enforce the laws we have instead of making some big production about creating a xenophobic policy. if we have people in place to clean up government and not allow frivilous earmark/porkbarrelling, we could actually spend the money on important programs (assuming we are going to spend the same money we are creating out of thin air now. otherwise, we have to clean up the frivolous spending and reapportion taxes to protect the middle class to fund it). but i have a real problem with NOT fixing the broken parts and using this as an excuse to rail against useful programs that we should, as the greatest country in the world, have for our people.

I don't disagree with that. If we could fund universal health care without bankrupting our citizens, I am all for it. My problem is I don't think our government is capable of running/managing a program of that magnitude. We need to get our crap together first. Medicare is a mess. Many government run programs are...
As for immigration, again I agree. Lets enforce the laws we have now, including border security. If we turn a blind eye to the border, why bother having laws, especially if once they are caught here, they are not deported...

Why do you suppose that virtually every other advanced country in the world can afford this and we can't? The fact is that we spend a far greater proportion on health care than any other country on our current inefficient system of financing health care.

hey, like i said, we need to fix what is wrong first. i may have run on the platform of healthcare and fair taxation for the poor and middle class but i am not going to bandaid "solutions" to societal problems onto a festering wound. we need to fix the underlying problems first. sox and i have a plan for america...
