We manually enter our HMDA data into the free software provided by the FFIEC. The software that we currently have installed says it is good for 1998-2002 data. I tried to submit the 2002 data by internet email submission and I got an error message that said "2002 ivalid year, expected year 1999, 2000, 2001. See HMDA file specifications in help section. I am baffled. The software says it is for 2002 data!?!

Rick, the software I have says for 1999 through 2003. This version came out in December according to a letter I have from the Federal Reserve. The letter says you can download the HMDA software at www.ffiec.gov/hmda.

I sent ours using the 1998-2002 and had no problem. I have since been given software to be used in 2003 that's dated 1999-2003. You might call the HMDA hotline listed on the software.

Thanks. I called the hotline and was only able to leave a message. The automated system also said it might take 2 business days to return my call.

Rick, the version I have is 2.30. It is possible you may have a file corrupted.

What you may try doing is locating the Hmdaw directory and then the Data sub-directory. Copy all files in the Data directory to a temporary directory then re-install the HMDA software, or install the updated version. You can then copy the data files from the temp directory back into the Hmdaw/Data directory and the software should pick up that data. (However if one of your data files is corrupted, this may not work and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if one of the data files is corrupted, you may be looking at having to re-enter all your data.)

Hope this helps.

Dan,
Thanks. I found the updated data entry software from FFIEC in a loan clerk's desk. I installed it and it picked up the data file just fine. I'm close to the wire, but I got it submitted!
P.S. The FFIEC called back right after I fixed the problem.

Rick, glad it worked.

Also, just for clarification if you are installing the update, there is no need to copy the data files to a different directory, the update will, or should, recognize the data files. That suggestion was only to safegaurd your data in case there was a more serious problem.
