I got today's Compliance Briefing talking about the nuw HUD-1 and HUD-1a forms, but looking on HUDCLIPS I couldn't find anything saying when these forms should go into effect. Has anyone else heard of a date?

The only thing that appears to have changed is addition of the expiration date at the top of the page. It states on the form that "previous editions are obsolete", so I assume you should begin using the new form as soon as possible.

Page 54681 of the 9/18/06 issue of the Federal Register contained an item that indicated that HUD had submitted the HUD-1 and HUD-1A forms to the OMB for review. It said it was an extension of a currently approved collection. It seems like OMB must have approved the forms and given them new expiration dates. If you look at section 3500.9(a)(5) of Regulation X you will see that one of the permissible changes that can be made to the HUD-1 form is to delete the expiration date. The OMB approval number must appear. I believe some forms vendors never included the expiration numbers therefore this is a non-event for them as long as the OMB approval number matches up.

What is the OMB approval number or where can I find it? We are using the old forms because there is no expiration date on them.

The OMB Approval No. is 2502-0265. It can be found in the top right hand corner of the new forms.

The OMB Approval No. was also referenced in the 9/18/06 issue of the Federal Register.

I came across the prior version of the HUD-1A form and it had an OMB Approval No. of 2502-0491. I wonder if HUD and OMB decided to give both forms the same approval numbers or if an error was made?

We're using a vendor's HUD-1/1A forms & they have the correct OMB number but they do not have an expiration date. Can we continue to use these or must we use the new HUD-1/1A that also contains the new expiration date?

See post 654131 in this thread. It is okay to remove the expiration date from the form.

After checking our HUD-1 and HUD-1A, we found the correct number (2502-0265) on the HUD-1 and (2502-0491) on the HUD-1A. How can we find out which is correct?

I spoke with someone at HUD today and she said that the HUD-1 and HUD-1A forms have had the same OMB approval number for several years now. Both forms should have the 2502-0265 approval number. A notice was published in the 2/28/02 issue of the Federal Register. See page 9315. It indicated that it was combining six previously approved information collections under OMB control number 2502-0265. The OMB control numbers of the previous information collections were 2502-0265, 2502-0458, 2502-0491, 2502-0501, 2502-0516, and 2502-0517.
