Do you suppose people will want to take my picture and copy it onto their sites? On second thought, I doubt it!!!

But, that's the point - you don't care one way or another, but some people do care and have reserved their rights to images. Keep in mind that the image posted by you can now be taken, linked, downloaded and used for whatever purpose anyone on this earth has in mind. There are some sites out there that you would not want your picture one, correct?

The thought of having my picture on certain sites scares the *$%@ out of me, not to mention scaring the people going to these sites. Seriously, I never thought of that. It would be pretty easy for someone to maliciously use my picture. Makes me think twice about posting it.

I try to read the fine print, but feel free to double check the site my pic comes from.

It's a very nice picture, but think about these facts: Everyone on earth now has access to your name, home page address, picture, etc. etc. Have you read anything about identity theft lately? Why anyone "gets real" on a web site in this day and age is beyond belief and can have a very expensive result. Give it some thought!

Well, it looks like the opinions are divided on whether to leave to leprechaun or take him away.

This issue has weighed very heavily on me since Ipso brought it up. So, I called the Animation Factory company where I got the gif to talk to them about this. And, I just wanted to let everyone know that I was given verbal permission by Michelle to use their animation without the required credit and link. Michelle said this is more of a "common courtesy" than a "law" and that since I called to ask about it, that I could go ahead and use it.

I feel so much better now and I can now enjoy my weekend.

What a great site, especially as we are about to go to war.

The point is that, although the is no prohibition to linking stated that I can find, linking:

Negatively impacts bandwidth and interferes with access for legitimate users.

Increases the burden on their server which is already providing a free public service.

    Is just plain bad Netiquette

Since the site is, in effect, a God Bless America, statement, do you want to take something away from their efforts, e.g. bandwidth, etc.?

Ipso - Since I change my pic weekly do you really think they'll mind if I use it for a short time to spread a little patriotism?

Michelle: You have a point and your heart is in the right place, but yes I think it would be best to not link, but that, of course, is just my opinion so put on a happy face.

Life is sure funny. In the midst of this oh-so-controversial discussion about leprechauns and weblink violators, my son was in a car accident this morning (he's OK but his car is totaled).

Guess which issue is more important to me. Sure puts things in perspective.

You have a good point and giving thanks that your son is O.K. would always be at the top of the list. All we can do in life is live well and do well when to comes to our family, other people, their property, etc. This issue is really small, but it's very telling in that it's the little things in life that add up to the character of life.

My initial response to this commentary is "Oh for gods sake"

I'll get rid of the CRA Queen to make you happy...god forbid the web police come knocking at my door.

Your chances are directly proportional to the amount of wine in the celler.
