Well thanks for the information. I am now stuck at what kind of car to get. . and still extremely sad about my car. If i could post the picture of it I would, but not sure how.

Kias aren't very expensive cars. Don't know much about them though.

Ron, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't have to hear about your Law degree and the politics that you practice, so cut me a break.

I am into cars, all kinds of cars, and I think Bimmer may be as well. If you don't like the conversation, read something political as there is plenty of stuff to comment on in that realm.

Somewhere vanilla
when have i mentioned law degree or said "i'm a lawyer and..." unless somebody asks?

more importantly, i was just teasing you and making fun of mike golic at the same time. lighten up. clearly mastershake isn't looking for something as expensive as BMW. (don't get me wrong, they are great, quality cars but i doubt she is looking for a 1985 bmw which is about all she can afford in her stated proce range)

I was speaking of a used BMW 3 series, hence my post about finding a reputable mechanice.

I am sure she(?) could find a decent late 90's 3 series 4 door for a reasonable price.

My own 1985 325 got up to about 175k miles before it started having problems.

That'a another gay car - by the way, who would name a car "Passat" - does that mean something in the gay world? I would not be caught dead in a gay car and the Passat is definately gay.

Are you gay? How can you use "Master" in your poster name - that's not allowed, it's deceptive advertising. Or, are you the "Master" within some sort of relationship as that could explain it? Not that there is anything wrong with being gay!

I would suggest a Toyota Corolla or a Pontiac Vibe. Both highly rated, reliable cars that get great mileage.

I just shake my head. Do you watch Aqua Teen Hunger Force? I suppose not because you asked about my name and no I am not GAY!!! Plus with you being the way you are, don't you know you could offend someone using that word, the correct word would be homosexual and no I am not homosexual.

Me, offend someone? Anyway, is there now something wrong with the word gay? If yes, can we please have the word back as it did mean something entirely different, and special, not so many years ago.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force - YIKES, that sounds gay!

In hades.
Look for a Honda, Nissan, or Toyota, in that order. Those are the three best car brands in reliability, sportyness, and value. And this is just my opinion, no need to dig up studies proving me wrong. :p

Pulling people out of the ditc...
the Jetta was rated as one of the top 5 gay cars, not the Passat. I now open a can of worms when I state that I'm on my second Jetta (insert laughter here). The first was the 1999 Trek edition and had 150,000 miles when my wife totaled it. The 2nd is a 2003 Jetta TDI, currently have 143,000 miles. Other than an issue with the doors not all unlocking via the remote (on both cars), I have not had any problems at all. I have a brother with a Passat that is sitting around 270,000 miles and he drives it daily, it is a 1996. My TDI currently gets about 51 MPG.

Don't get ahead of yourself darling, but thanks for the list of possible cheap, good cars. I knew you would come in handy.

You might want to check Consumer Reports or Edmunds for their findings and recommendations, for both car and price range.

My Dad sells for Mitsubishi and Saturday I drove an Endeavor and an Outlander. The endeavor felt shaky going around curves but the outlander was awesome. I think I may get one of those. He syas for the money it is the best small SUV. You can get it with every possible accessory at 29,900.

Master_shakE, you might consider a Saturn. I owned one several years ago, and I really liked it. Other than routine maintenance and one recall involving a part in the seat belt assembly, that car never spent 1 day in the shop. I loved my salesman, the dealership was great, and I would definitely buy a Saturn again. This time of year, Saturn often has low or no money down options, also. It held its value very well, and I felt I really got my money's worth out of that car, and it was a pleasure to own and drive. My Saturn got 36 - 39 miles to the gallon average (highway), which I loved back then, and I would suspect anyone would love now with gas prices as high as they are.

Lip Gloss, I owned a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse for a couple of years and really enjoyed that car. I had it in the shop only once other than routine maintenance, and even that one issue was quickly and inexpensively resolved. It held its value quite well, also. It was fun to drive and sporty looking. I don't have any other experience with Mitsubishi automobiles.

Granted, both of the above described were new cars. Whenever considering a used car, of course maintenance and repair issues become more of a concern. I'd take a mechanic with you to evaluate the car if you choose to buy used. The small initial investment will be worthwhile in the long run. Good luck!

Mitsubishi has a low resale value, so unless you are planning to run it until it dies, stay away...very far away

But a used one isn't priced to high.
