Does the $10/$20 rule only come into play on demand deposit accounts? Can a bank offer $25 to people who open interest bearing accounts, such as a savings account or a NOW account? I realize Reg DD would apply but do we have to be concerned with Regs D & Q? ING will deposit $25 into a new account that requires a $250 opening deposit. It's an interest bearing account so does that mean the $10 limit doesn't apply? I have read the bonus article from bankerscompliance.com and I found it to be confusing.

If it is an interest bearing account the $10/$20 rule does not apply and the bonus would be added to the interst for 1099INT reporting.
