Does anyone have any ideas or has anyone gotten married on the beach somewhere? Any ideas on those all inclusive resorts that include the wedding with a certain number of days?

I got married about two years ago at the Sandals resort in Jamaica (Royal Carribean in Montego Bay). Loved it!!! They actually have three locations you can get married at . . . the beach, a garden spot or the gazebo overlooking the ocean. We chose the beach and everything turned out wonderful. They are very accomodating and there is no stress of planning. They take care of everything. We stayed a week . . . arrived on a Wednesday and got married on Saturday. I would highly recommend a destination wedding!

That sounds like what we want. Was it just the 2 of you, a small wedding, or more people involved??

The second time around for both myself and my husband we decided to get married on the beach of Maui. They had a wedding coordinator from the hotel we stayed at and had several different packages to choose from. We booked the wedding about 7 months in advance. We were both barefoot, my husband only wore a pair of shorts and a bowtie. I had a halter-top wedding dress. Note to self: wear shoes to the cite of the wedding, the sand burned our feet! It was the perfect setting. They had a large garden with a gazebo, so the cake and champagne was set up there. We had 10 unbelievable nights in Maui! Most hotels offer wedding packages.......check them out! We even rented a Mustang convertible for cruising Maui!

I mailed my wedding dress to the hotel about 2 weeks prior to the wedding, to avoid any missing luggage problem. The wedding coordinator set up the appointment for the marriage license. Depending on where you are looking at going, make sure of the licensing requirements. Some state require a waiting period, blood tests, ect...Make sure you check that out!

My niece got married about 7 years ago at Atlantis in the Bahamas. There were her parents and brother and his sister at the wedding. The pictures were amazing.

I am really excited. We are looking at the Grand Lido resoets right now. We know that not many of our friends and family will be able to attend but I would like a few to be there. I haven't made up my mind on a dress or bathing suit with a skirt.

I was just going to say the exact same thing as Impulse. Aren't you the "Honest Opinions Only" poster?

I don't want to rain on your parade, but I'm going to a little bit here.... with all of the drama that was happening a couple of months back, isn't this a little fast?

If it were me, I wouldn't be jumping in with both feet at such lightning speed.

Yep that was me. I just wanted to know about weddings on the beach. Thank you for your concern though.

Ok, I don't know you all that well, but you weren't even sure if you wanted to meet this guys family for Christmas. Are you already engaged?

I know I was unsure at that time. I really do appreciate concern and I can see where some of you that kept up with that post could have strong doubt, but I was only asking questions about beach weddings. I know some of you have things to say about this, so I will always listen.

Yes. I have been for exactly a month today. We are getting married the first week of July on a beach. We just haven't decided on one yet. We are working with a travel agent, but I wanted to see if any of you had personal experience with this.

Thank you that means a lot to me.

If we invite people to a destination wedding, should we offer to help pay for their trip??

We had 16 people at our wedding . . . everyone paid their own way. We told them, "This is what we're doing. If you want to join us, you're more than welcome, if not, that's okay too". Most people made it a vacation and stayed for the remainder of the week. I don't think anyone would expect you to pay for their trip. That can get pretty costly.

I was worried about that. That is why we are talking to an agent. Maybe we could get a group deal. I really want my Dad to come. I would like my sisters to be there but I don't think there is any way they can afford it.

Is it worth it to stay at the resort for a week to get a free wedding??

The free wedding, for us, included a bouquet of flowers, music, a light reception after with food and champagne, and pictures. The food that came with the free wedding was only enough for two people, so we ended up forking out some money for the others to enjoy some snacks, cake and champagne. We only got about 10 pictures that came with the free package. We could order more for an extra cost. I guess it all depends on where you go.

A dress that has a matching Bathing Suit! You could have both on so you will be able to take the dress right off etc. Just brainstorming.

My nephew got married on Kauai at the Princeville resort. They didn't do the beach thing but had it on a balcony overlooking Hanalei Bay with the lush green mountains in the background. It was gorgeous! About 40 of us came from Mi and Ca. If you have prople that want to come suggest that they rent a condo rather than stay at the resort. I think our condo for a week was 750.00, far cheaper than the resorts. Also some people rented condos that could hold several people and split the cost.

Just curious, don't you think after only knowing this guy for a couple of months (and the fact that he had some possesive qualities) is that something you really want to rush into so quickly?? It is just kind of seems like a security thing, like you can't not have a man in your life. . . I am not trying to be mean, just honest, and giving my honest opinion. If you two are really in love and feel this is right, then why rush things?
